This week's mix is a seat-of-your-pants selection that is unashamedly party-focussed. The good vibes flow from the first moment as Dee races through passionate house and vocal laced classics. There are moments of all-out hands in the celebration next to boogie workouts and a heart-swelling Mariah Carey edit. It's a quick, tight, and impossibly enjoyable listen from this cultured party-starter.

Honcho Podcast Series 109: CarrieonDisco's 'Tim Strongs You're Doing It Wrong' Mix

This is my 4 hour opening set from the December edition of Group Therapy in Copenhagen (@grouptherapy_cph). I was really sick in the week running up to this party and very nearly pulled out but am so glad I made it. 

The party was a world AIDS day fundraiser raising money for AIDS-Fondet and “Ungegruppen”. It was also the first party in their new venue Den Anden Side. The vibes were incredibly special and I was honoured to play the first songs in their new home. This was my love letter to everyone we lost to AIDS and a chance to play some of my most cherished records.

Después de mudarse de Chicago a Berlín en 2016, Jacob ha estado produciendo y alentando algunos de los eventos queer más queridos de su ciudad adoptiva, particularmente Buttons @radio-buttons y el Whole Festival. Su experiencia multitudinaria con la producción cultural, (ha sido anfitrión de una radio comunitaria, manager de restaurantes y de una galería de arte contemporáneo, vendedor de discos en una legendaria disquería, director de sesiones de meditación guiada y organizador de fiestas disco en un teatro porno gay), demuestran su atención al detalle para lo experiencial y lo efímero, demostrando que la creatividad está en todas partes. For the 39th entry in the Fun Fun Mix series, we present dj Jacob Meehan, delivering this amazing mix recorded live at Zenner Club in Berlin on New Year's Day 2023. After relocating from Chicago to Berlin in 2016, Jacob has instigated some of his adopted city's most beloved queer events, particularly Buttons @radio-buttons and WHOLE Festival. His multitudinous background with cultural production - hosting community radio, managing neighborhood restaurants, operating a contemporary art gallery, selling records at a legendary record shop, leading guided meditation sessions, & throwing disco parties in a gay porn theater - inform his attention to detail for the experiential & ephemeral, proving that creativity is everywhere. The downtime of the pandemic afforded Meehan the opportunity to dive further into music production; expect new releases from him in 2023!

Fun Fun Mix 39 - Jacob Meehan (Live at Zenner Berlin)

We’re very excited to present the first Live & Direct of 2023, courtesy of our Pittsburgh-based residents Honcho. 

This one was recorded live at Nowadays on the first weekend of January, to a room of smiling faces for whom the festive nature of the new year had clearly not worn off. It's two hours of the crew in pure form, with all three DJs locked into the same irresistible groove. George, Aaron and Clark have a knack for uniting their own unique styles to present a cohesive vision of chugging, sexy house music, and here it is on full display. Big thanks to Honcho for letting us share this with the world!

In addition to the killer music from both Honcho and Father Dukes, this night was especially memorable thanks to everyone in attendance contributing to the friendly and joyful vibe, from the dancers to the staff and everyone in between. A big thanks is due to you all as well!

He graced our booth at the IsBurning x Dekmantel SXSW showcase last year and he has been a key figure in Texas’s developing underground dance scene for the last ten years where he integrated activism with electronic music.

About his favourite track in the mix:
"One track that I am excited to include in the mix is Luca Lozano's "No Rewinds".  It has a mellow feel but actually is in a similar BPM to the other tracks I was considering. The delicate, emotive pianos and heavy bass create this beautiful tension.  It was a fun challenge figuring out how to place a more contemplative track in the middle of these rude and euphoric bangers."
