Label head SPF 50 returns to Professional Music with a five-track EP of propulsive, dub-infused material. This record delves deep into our moody, atmosphere-driven take on the dance floor, undulating between straight four-on-the-floor energy, heavy breakbeat science and euphoric ambience. Swung layers of rhythm gel with misty chords and 808 bass pressure, riding the line between 2-step excitement and hypnotic, long-form arrangements. This is introspective body music, steeped in the sonic worlds of UK bass, looped 90’s techno and grainy dub.

This month’s Worm Moon in Libra marks a natural shift, a slither into fresh energy, into the lush balance that Spring brings to the tired Winter-worn soul, combined with the fire and fury of Aries season. Once again we find ourselves at the start of the zodiac cycle, ready to release and jump into newness. With this mix, @wronghole exudes come hither and raw, luscious desire. A salacious certainty across genres, she surfaces an enchanted nostalgia, for the sensuality of the rave and the magnetic anticipation brought on by the change in seasons. This soundtrack imagines a reunion with the dance floor, friends and strangers, a bass massage for sweaty bodies intermingling.

Alie works as a space for exploration, discovery and uncovering, shaping, transforming and enjoying different fragments of sounds and frequencies.
Those restructurizations and manifestations turn into works that, through collaborations and synchronisations, make their way back out into the universe, 
from where they were conceived. When playing, their focus is flowing back and forth between ambient, experimental and fast forward sounds.

In What the Moment Holds, Qwëzall opens a passage between the physical and the ephemeral, shaping sound into slow waves of perception. Each piece unfolds like a moment suspended in time, where rhythm breathes and dissolves into texture, and silence becomes part of the pulse.

The EP moves with a quiet intensity, tracing the space between movement and contemplation. Layers evolve with intention, forming hypnotic structures that seem to echo from within rather than ahead. It is a meditation on presence, on what remains when everything else fades.

Budget Cuts is excited to share Portland, OR based experimental composer Bardo:Basho’s second full-length album Alinea. Alinea is meant to evoke the idea of a non-linear history. “a” meaning not/without and “Linea” a feminine embodiment of linearity. The concept is derived from a personal history and identity which feel fragmented and this motif is reflected throughout the album. Alinea incorporates eclectic compositional and timbral styles held together by ethereal vocal performances. Expansive, intimate, and hypnotic, Alinea is a meditation on vulnerability.

Kirsten Thom started performing as Bardo:Basho while studying music at the University of Puget Sound. Bardo:Basho’s work fuses classical structure with experimental signal processing to create boundless otherworldly soundscapes that range from drone to techno. Bardo:Basho has shared the stage with visionaries like Jlin, Laurel Halo, Actress, and Yu Su while performing at festivals like Decibel and Upstream or at Kremwerk’s influential Research club night.

Bristol producer Boulderhead combines his affinity to minimalism with a range of influences across the club spectrum on Super Portal.

The minimal, breakbeat flaked Metamaterial opens before the stripped-out acid of the aptly named Wanna Go To A Party that evokes its title. On the flip, Super Portal combines broken bristol techno rhythms with a hypnotic driving synth while skeletal stepper Humons combines muted chords with skippy drums. Closing proceedings is Grooverider, a rumbling roller that succeeds in making a lot out of few elements.
