The German pioneer of electronic music Conrad Schnitzler (1937&ndash;2011) amassed a vast archive of sounds  for use in combination with each other in live performances. In 2011 the idea came up of con-structing new compositions, not remixes, from this material. The Con-Struct series was born. Our release features con-structions by Pyrolator, co-founder of the legendary German label Ata Tak, solo artist and member of various seminal post-punk bands such as D.A.F. and Der Plan. "My prime objective was to present a side of Conrad which I had always heard in his music but one which often goes unnoticed: a darker, technoid side. Conrad has always been one of the great pioneers of classic Berlin techno music", says Pyrolator. Convince yourself!

ABOUT:

Nils Frahm has always said that he’s just waiting for something real special when being asked if he would ever score the music for a film. And that’s exactly what German director Sebastian Schipper presented to him with his one-take feature ‘Victoria’. Filmed in Berlin, Victoria’s plot sees a runaway party girl, who's asked by three friendly men to join them as they hit the town, but their wild night of partying suddenly turns into a bank robbery as the music changes from techno to subdued piano sounds.

For the recording session at Studio P4 in Berlin, Frahm enlisted the help of long-time collaborator and cellist Anne Müller, violist Viktor Orri Árnason and ambient artist Erik K. Skodvin of Deaf Center on guitar.

‘Victoria’ won the Berlinale Film Festival prize for Best Cinematography and has also received seven nominations including Best Soundtrack for the Deutscher Filmpreis – Germany’s highest movie award, and will be released in cinemas across Germany on June 11th with plans to release it in the UK and other countries soon.

'Pixel Rain' marks the debut release from Moscow-based musician Dima Safronov, originally hailing from Bryansk. Dima brings fourteen years of DJ experience on his shoulders, he has organized numerous parties, and he's also curator of 5/8 Radio, a music station he founded eight years ago.

'Pixel Rain' doesn't aim to be conceptual, but rather captures the mood of a specific moment, capable of sending listeners drifting along waves of memory. Four compositions feel like brief flashes of emotional impulses, joined together to form a unified whole. Two original tracks (including the title track, created in collaboration with Safronov’s close friend Robsn), seamlessly flow into two dance-oriented remixes, each reflecting and reinterpreting the mood of their originals.

The opening track - 'Pixel Rain' immediately immerses the listener in a world of rich and soft digital textures, delicate rhythms, and subtle sonic architecture. The music is both anxious and pure, like raindrops trickling down an evening windowpane.
'Pixel Rain' is a story told in the language of electronic music, crafted with attention and love for fleeting emotional states that are never meant to return.

Ollie bio:

Ollie is a DJ who approaches the craft with a dedication to digging deep. 

From his early days playing at free parties around southwest UK, he relocated to London, where he got to play at well-established clubs, such as Heaven and others that are long gone, like Herbal. 

A year or so spent working for Redeye Records took him further east to Ipswich, before life brought him back to London, these days regularly playing at Deptford’s Endeavor.

His sets navigate a wide spectrum of machine music, fused with underlying threads of syncopated rhythm, bass weight, and a distinct current of raw funk.
