"Memory for me is a tricky thing — a soup of emotion made of endless parts both real and imagined. This mix is a rumination on a theme found in my memory — hot pavement in the August sun, nutcrackers and backyard partying, sweating out an edible on the subway headed north, a handful of balloons let loose on a rooftop, and an accidental overload of research chemicals. Red White Blue and Green. White t-shirt and shorts, stoned to the bone, setting sun stuff."

Big Aura (http://bigaura.bandcamp.com) is the live modular synth performance of Greg Gayzon (@user-773851083) and Jake Vest (@agtapes). Originally from Memphis, the now Brooklyn-based duo smelt mesmerizing soundscapes that draw from a range of influences ranging from cinematic sound design from to New Age. Each performance by them is a unique product of improvisation informed by decades of craftsmanship. Swirling acid madness from the ever brilliant mind of Ridgewood, Queens’ Maxime Robillard, Love Letters’ “Falling Star EP” — the latest record on Interdimensional Transmissions — crawls inside your brain and takes many shapes as it brings you to ecstatic experiences on the dance floor. The vinyl is presented with 4 new songs, the A side containing the brain melter “Falling Star” that just builds and builds until reaching a rapturous release, and the frenetic “Tore”. The B side contains remixes of 2 originals — the first by No Way Back resident Mike Servito exploring his Detroit electro bass roots (and the first record in the IT catalog) for “Let the Bass Go”, and the second remix is of the jam “Morse” by IT founder BMG in his new studio, the first creation in the new room, moving towards a more holographic sound. The originals of “Let the Bass Go” and “Morse” are digital exclusives, making the digital version of this EP 6 tracks total.

We fight because we like it

It’s not about how we win

There’s no paradise waiting

at the end of the queer rainbow

There is no trans utopia

that has yet to be won

There is only here and now

and our collective refusal

to stop breathing

There is only this world

and we shape it with our bare hands

We inhale the ashes of burning books,

smuggling all the names 

and histories inside our bodies

before they float into the night sky

We call upon Silvia, upon Marsha 

We see Refaat’s kite, flying high

We write letters to our siblings

who’ve been locked in cages

and called “criminals”

We destroy old statues

and dance with joyful

flowing motions in the wreckage

We fight because we like it

Because one day

everything will be dust

and no one will remember why

they didn’t want us to exist.

We’ll just sit around 

and tell stories

about how we lived  

by any means necessary.
