Label founder Holly Lester pools together a selection of her favourite artists from across the globe to form the first volume in the Duality Trax Visions compilation series. Bouncing from the U.S to Europe, the VA travels through a multitude of moods and genres across seven tracks - including acid tinged electro from New York, breaks infused garage from Chicago, rave-fuelled house music from Belgium and a pulsating trance-inspired club track from Estonia. 

Today we bring you the first listen of 'Umwaya', a dreamy breakbeat number that beautifully rounds off the compilation from Belfast hustler Optmst.  

Keen to reflect the core ethos of the label, the compilation series name serves as a nod towards her ideals of a more equalised future in electronic music - something which is fittingly demonstrated throughout this stellar lineup. 100% of compilation profits will be donated to Doctors Without Borders, who provide medical care to casualties of war in Gaza, Syria, Yemen and much more. The organisation has also worked tirelessly to provide Covid-19 related aid to countries hit the hardest throughout the pandemic and are currently lobbying for a global waiver of patents on COVID-19 technologies.

Inspired by Clarissa Pinkola Estés canonical text, Women Who Run with the Wolves (1992), the eponymously titled Donne che corrono coi lupi is a dedication to feral feminine energy, connection and sisterhood. In the book, Estés – a psychoanalyst, poet and cantadora, or “keeper of old stories” – draws on Jungian theory to weave an alternative mythology of The Wild Woman archetype. She conjures images of the underworld, rivulets of menstrual blood; a lumpen mass of placenta splattering onto a cave floor. Reimagining folktales in which women's creative power is released from patriarchal constraints, Estés finds affinity with nature. In a mirrored gesture, Osàre! Editions label boss Elena Colombi has curated a poetical array of tracks by over twenty artists, giving rise to a primal, mystical compilation.

For the first release of the 10” series, we welcome Design Default to the Dome with an EP that effortlessly orbits a beautiful yet precisely constructed world. The release encapsulates the atmosphere of his previous ambient works with the energy of his left of centre club releases demonstrating the depth of output this Parisian producer is capable of.
 
On the A-side, we dip into his distinctive approach to sound design with glistening melodies, flourishing through an array dreamy soundscapes on Eta Aquariids. We welcome back PD favourite Sputnik One whose rework ups the energy levels with a flip certified to move the floor while maintaining the euphoria and bliss of the original.

On the B, we are again transported to unexplored worlds on the uplifting journey of  Kagura where fragmented particles collide on the backdrop of uplifting otherworldly atmospheres.

Takama-ga-hara reflects the lofty sacred world from which the name implies - weaving through a haze of influences giving us something beautiful, engaging and unique and following on from a tough couple of years, a positive look into the future as we move towards more freedom, connection and positivity.

The German philosopher Hermann Schmitz defines as vagueness the basic perceptive condition for describing the concept of atmosphere, and the spatial model within which it can be experienced. The space of feeling - a space by definition devoid of surfaces and animated by numerous semi-entities - is able to involve the individual immediately, bodily and affective, for being characterized by intrinsic properties such as indeterminacy and impermanence.

To clarify the spatial character of feelings understood as atmosphere, Schmitz adopts the analogy with the acoustic model explaining its ability to act despite the impossibility of defining a quantifiable spatial model. Vago Spazio del Ritmo - volume 1 is the first chapter of a path dedicated to the indefinite that surrounds us and that becomes a refuge, only experienced via sensations.

12 artists have vaguely wandered among new unexplored atmospheres, pushing the boundaries that define the dimension of listening and dancefloor, paying homage to the leftfield hemisphere in a non-linear and unexpected journey that will bring us to experience the unexplored forms of our emotions.

This Is Our Time welcomes & embraces Dj Chrysalis from Melbourne into its ranks with a tight hug upon his new EP, 'Just Passing Through'. For this release, Chris' mantra was 'the garden is in charge, we're just passing through', consequently, it's not merely an invitation to dance, but to a cheerful escape from the urban hustle.

The EP opens with 'Breathe', a meditative pacesetter that, right from the start, encourages you to embrace being the instrument of the notes and rhythm flowing through you. A playful backbone for any cleverly constructed dj set. We follow it up with the happy-go-lucky stomper that is 'The Day After Techworld', imagining a stroll along the banks of the Yarra River with this one, making our way to an after-party for Melbourne tech-heads.

As we reach the B-side, we aim for the higher state of minds with 'Babycake.' Fluttering breaks and dominant acidic pads balance amidst the heavy dripping of sound drops. This is the last dance of the dawn, knock the chip out of your third eye. After our dance, we are closing our garden gate with 'Overthunk (Big Dub Blub)' a reverb-drunk dubby trip, where we lie down on the grass and listen to fuzzy bird calls answering strings plucked underwater.

Berlin’s Hypersoft collective kick off their new label with a 15-track VA raising
funds for trans youth and a launch party at OHM.

The collective, run by Berlin and London-based DJs TPR and DJ TEETH, emerged onto the scene in 2022 and is known for balancing breakthrough and established artists from the new school of the progressive landscape with legends and innovators of the scene, a resident lineup that includes Cromby, Bambi and Bliss Inc. and guests ranging from Sunju Hargun and Spekki Webu to nd_baumecker and Jane Fitz.

Their first release as a label follows the same principle: Adam Pits, Angel D’lite,

Melbourne based producer, DJ and co-founder of Sumac Records, Jon Watts delivers his Butter Sessions debut, Music for 3 CDJs. With over 10 years experimenting as an artist, Jon has an established history with the Australian underground scene. Music for 3 CDJs, showcases two contrasting sides, revealing his ability to seamlessly navigate manifold sounds.

The A-side presents three distinct tracks, thread together with restless percussion and a propulsive force. The introduction to the EP, Prohaasation, is a medley of techno and electro fabrics which progressively build before abruptly halting -- generating suspense for the track to follow. The feverish William gasps and screeches in tones that peak and fall, accompanied by audio maintained throughout; reminiscent of a malfunctioning fax machine. Now It’s Done is a choppy and disjointed piece yet coherent in its structure that makes for a rewarding conclusion to the release’s first chapter.

Subtlety and minimalism prevail for side B, as Jon gifts us with loops that swirl and churn. AMB 4 marks the first deviation from the narrative of Side A; sounding like hypnotic swelling from the bottom of a deep well. AMB 5 follows suit, divulging more of the picture. Carved out of a sound bed of field recordings, the nine and a half minute piece enchants with its repetitive arc, a spaciousness mirrored in the EP’s farewell. The last track Piano 1, is an intricate study of a singular piano chord, examining the layers of the chord’s sustain that are disclosed. A testament to Jon’s unadorned restraint and confirmation of the old adage that less is really more.

After a small digital break, here is new record from the Comic Sans' vaults. First world appearance for Low Khey with 10 tracks exploring the 90-100 bpm side of experimental bass music. Call it mutant dancehall, deconstructed dub or industrial riddims, it's difficult to describe precisely in which genre the release falls. Let's just imagine that Vybz Cartels' beats met Adrian Sherwood's punk dub sound design and that the whole thing was supervised by the evil twin of DJ Python. The big space left to the drums and the precise use of robotic sound-effects give a hyper-mechanical aspect to the riddim tracks which are aired by several interludes made of weird FX making it sound like futuristic commercials for spaceships or intergalactic bitcoin exchange. The whole project has hidden references to artificial intelligence and problems that human are facing regarding the technology. The world in wich Low Khey lives is dominated by machines, and mankind is having a rough time to say the least! But there is hope for our Homo Sapien friend... If only he kept in mind this simple advice : Never. Trust. A. Cyborg.
