Thanks for visiting my profile. I enjoy creating tracks in any style that inspires me. Of course, I enjoy listening to everyone's tracks.

I'm here to share and appreciate all genres of music.  Most of what I am currently recording is electronic, and largely ambient, in nature; however, I have recently started recording cover songs of various tunes.  So, since I'm no longer strictly ambient (only mostly), I've changed my SoundCloud name to Smooth Waters Sonic Journeys.  Headphones greatly enhance the listening experience. I just love sound ..allsorts across the genre's ...hate getting stuck on one tip for too long ,been thru quite alot of eras &..have always from an early age written or jammed my own pieces of music..+ written poetry + lyric to songs ,i play guitar + produce ambient pieces on analogue units Roland tb 303 ,101,202,606,Juno 60. Was in my own bands years ago from about 1981 post punk era,dance electro stuff ,then ole skool scene when it was newskool,into drum n base era as it was happening...did pirate station stuff ,love dub reggae,great times..just carry on writing songs on acoustic guitar & do regular open mike sessions around my local area + jammin with other muse'os ...into  hho tec ....hydrogen...~  energy ...~ water is our future coal field.bit of an inventor..into unity ..autonomy n peace ..., peace out  ; )...~

I'm a British-American Electronic musician by the name of Nathan who currently lives in the Pacific NW. ... Sometimes I take extended Social Media breaks for my sanity. Lol! 😅 ... So if I ever miss responding to a comment or returning a follow, it's only because it's hard catching up when I've been gone a month.

I play vintage synths which I've had for decades(because new ones are expensive. Lol!), but in the last couple of years I've been working much more with DAWs (which is awesome because my fingers don't work as well as they used to), with the occasional flourish from my aging synths.

I'm influenced by all varieties of electronic and electronic-adjacent music from 1960s/70s - 2020s, not to mention a bit of Prog and Metal, and Jazz Fusion. 

My focus tends to be on Trance, Ambient, Synthwave, EDM, Synthpop, EBM, Industrial, Darkwave, Futurepop, and the occasional hint of Jazz Fusion. (Sometimes all in the same track).

That's what happens when you're hooked by the Doctor Who Theme at a young age. ;-)  

I'm not always entirely sure which subgenres many my tracks are closest to, So I try to pick the broadest and most dominant one for the main tag. The first row of tags are the other ones I reckon they're closest to, and the rest are an assortment of other related tags, some closer than others.

Hello dear Soundcloud listeners,

I'm still determined to continue producing music, the music of Pier Will, which can only be heard on Soundcloud and which can also be recorded... for now.

The world of music is rapidly moving towards a huge upheaval where the true musician will very quickly become "rare," or even more and more of a shadow, a peculiarity, a memory. This time is not so far away, as AI takes a predominant place in everything that touches us and surrounds us and in Music, this can already be heard very clearly!

Apparently, everyone is taking this lightly, and the few diehards are being sneered at as anti-progress terrorists, for now. I already have two work computers disconnected from the internet, which house my software and everything I need to work. No more updates for them to work properly... updates are only necessary if you need to connect! Another computer is dedicated solely to internet connection and will be used exclusively for streaming the tracks.

This decision has serious consequences for my production, as there are no more options to add anything to it. It's a gamble, but for me, it's an obligation to remain completely independent and free from AI.

Je suis toujours déterminé à continuer à produire de la musique, celle de Pier Will, que l'on ne peut écouter que sur Soundcloud et qui peut aussi être enregistrée… pour l'instant.

Le monde de la musique s'achemine rapidement vers un bouleversement majeur où le véritable musicien deviendra très vite « rare », voire de plus en plus une ombre, une singularité, un souvenir. Ce temps n'est pas si lointain, car l'IA prend une place prépondérante dans tout ce qui nous touche et nous entoure, et en musique, cela se voit déjà très clairement !

Apparemment, tout le monde prend cela à la légère, et les quelques irréductibles sont méprisés comme des terroristes anti-progrès, pour l'instant. J'ai déjà deux ordinateurs de travail déconnectés d'Internet, qui hébergent mes logiciels et tout ce dont j'ai besoin pour travailler. Plus besoin de mises à jour pour qu'ils fonctionnent correctement… les mises à jour ne sont nécessaires que si vous avez besoin de vous connecter ! Un autre ordinateur est dédié uniquement à la connexion Internet et sera utilisé exclusivement pour le streaming des morceaux.

Cette décision a de graves conséquences sur ma production, car il n'y a plus aucune possibilité d'y ajouter quoi que ce soit. C'est un pari risqué, mais pour moi, c'est une obligation de rester totalement indépendant et libre de toute IA.
