We're very happy to share with you for the 59th episode of our podcast serie, this amazing musical journey from Dj, live performer and label owner Głós.

The mix is a hybrid set divided into two acts. First part is shaped in ambient textures, soothing and with dreamlike atmospheres. All of a sudden the story changes, unleashing an inner energy with refinement. 

We will host Głós for our last Art Bei Ton Private event on the 24th of June, he will share the decks with Eyvind Blix and Aisha Cue, so come catch him live if you're in Berlin!

Non-Print label head and producer Głós wants to create something outside of the conforming realm of Techno. He has already reinvented his early work through his first album, and his lucid yet straight-to-the-point productions continue to reveal a rarefied character. 

Głós (pronounced ‘Gwos’) has made a point out of not following the sometimes linear Techno patterns with his artistry. He comes from a band-focused Rock-environment and runs his own label, arranged to be a wildly experimental project. In his earlier years, Głós was in several ways a close contributor to the Ressort Imprint label—founded by fellow producer Ekserd—since its start in 2013, already then having left his native Poland to become a Berlin citizen. 

Głós’s successive platform, his very own label Non-Print, released his debut album ‘Fem’ in September 2018—marking the exact five year anniversary date of his first EP, ‘There Is No One Like You’ (Ressort Imprint, 2013). The producer describes it as ‘a collection of re-works as well as new material without any creative limitations’. ‘Fem’ is presented as one continuous mix—with each of the tracks being available in their own individual entity. 

As a producer and performer, Głós’s background, which is a very hands-on analogue way of working—recording for example distorted keyboards and guitars—continues to influence his music. The industrial rawness of these elements are still present in his Techno, only now existing mantled by a softer Drone- and Ambient-type of layer. Głós portrays filmic scenes in his music. You are surely guided by the kick-drum, but the productions are spatial—distant rave signals and voices echo in a fantasy-like landscape. 

His live performances are often a hybrid of his own work and others. The Techno is pure Głós, but in various parts he manipulates selected Ambient pieces, making them his own for his distinctive shows. Again a situation where Głós’s live band-background plays a big part. 

‘Trinity’ is the Berliner's self-proclaimed opus magnus with a playtime of about 5.5 hours that was released on Głós’s own Non-Print. Fresh off the press since then are his latest EPs ‘Swimming In Colours’ and ‘Serenity’ on Affin, showcasing a different approach of Głós opposed to his more up-beat productions made for the dance floor.

I am usually not a fan of sharing online the experience of a live set. The emotion, energy and aurea of that moment is something that cannot be grasped with a simple click. 
However, since the moment I touched the decks during this mix, I intuitively knew it was going to be something special… something which I would be happy for those who were not there to partially feel, listen and enjoy. This set includes a selection of my favorite tracks from this year -some older some newer- and all fundamental to create a linear, coherent story.

Initial Code performed at C12 on January 27th 2024, alongside Peter Van Hoesen live, Emily-Jeanne and Sara Dziri.

Genuinely contemporary selections, acute understanding of sound and performance, as well as consistent event promotion and extensive music journalism, Initial Code’s work in the Belgian techno scene and beyond have been unignorable since 2018.

Experienced for his age already, Initial Code’s DJ sets and live performances have seen him play the most reputed clubs and events in his country as well as debuting in Paris and Berlin both under his own direction and as invitee. This is the fruit of heavy activity in the techno scene since his beginnings as his love for music has been expressed from almost all possible angles.

Behind the decks and in the studio, Initial Code’s sound retains the depth of tunneling, mental techno expressing pace and effect. Contemporary in style, his early influences lie in more hypnotic, psychedelic techno.

Microbial life begins to spiral upwards, its first signs detectable as faint movements in the depths. From these elusive sparks, energy builds, colliding and surging forward—a force that moves through the land, digging through the earth and shifting mountains along the way. Under the rhythmic strumming of solar dub-chords and the pulse of lunar drums, we traverse the passage of day and night. The progression unfolds seamlessly, as fluid and organic as the blending of sound, showcasing the expert vision and craftsmanship of MARRØN.

Border One is a C12 regular, who has amassed an irrefutable reputation in Belgium and beyond since the release of his first 12-inch record in 2015. Between a fascination for sound discovery through the use of his modular synthesizer and his loyalty to the classic club rhythms, Border One’s style serves as a swiss-army knife for promoters and DJ’s on an international level.

For Set the Mood 32, the decks are in the capable hands of Maō-no, the mastermind behind Vinylismo and a resident at AMW.FM. This edition of Set the Mood marks a milestone as the very first vinyl-exclusive set in the series, a detail that adds an extra layer of excitement to the occasion. With its slower transitions and an emphasis on embracing the full body of each track, this mix perfectly captures what an opening set should be.

For Maō-no, a perfect opening set is about creating the right atmosphere. It starts with deep, sci-fi-inspired intros built on strong basslines, slowly unfolding into a dynamic blend of high and low tones. The transitions are purposefully slow, creating a smooth and steady build that pulls the audience into a rich, layered sound. This thoughtful approach sets the perfect tone for the night, drawing listeners into a unique musical journey.

Exploring a broad variety of sounds, from mixing textured club patterns in muddy tunnels to dystopian carnival music at Tomorrowland, waltur has been experimenting with the diverse possibilities that dance(able) music has to offer. A couple of years ago, she introduced herself to the public as an experimental gabber DJ through founding Burenhinder, a female* collective dedicated to developing a more ethical and inclusive platform within club and rave culture. Ever since, her approach has continually evolved into a multi-genre showcase of bass-heavy psychedelic sounds and eclectic global hard music.

Finally, I'm ready to share a piece of my debut at Tresor last year, a moment that's taken some time to process and articulate. This podcast is an extract of my 3-hour set, though due to recording issues, it doesn't capture the very beginning or end.  Playing for the New Faces series at Tresor was a real honour, and a chance to contribute to a respected platform within the scene.  It felt like a significant milestone, a culmination of years spent absorbing and internalizing the power of techno. The invitation was truly appreciated, a chance to delve into the core of what drew me to this music in the first place.

I wanted this set to be a sonic representation of my journey – not just as a DJ, but as a listener, a dancer, a creative spirit. It was about capturing the layers of influence, the complex emotions, the raw energy that fuels my connection to music. It was about translating the intangible – the feeling of being completely lost in a rhythm, the shared experience of the dancefloor – into something tangible, something that could resonate with others.

Sharing the lineup with Charlie and Strangerkat was a real highlight. Both are artists I deeply respect, and connecting with them before and after the set added another dimension to the night. The Tresor staff were also incredibly welcoming, creating an atmosphere of support and genuine enthusiasm.

Warming up presented a unique opportunity. It allowed me to craft a narrative arc, to begin in a space of introspection, exploring deeper, more ambient textures, before gradually layering in the elements that build tension and propel the night forward. The booth itself was a dream – the sound, the energy, the sense of connection to the crowd. Everything felt aligned.

That night in Berlin, I felt truly present, completely alive. It was a powerful reminder of why I do what I do. There was a sense of inevitability, a feeling that I was exactly where I was supposed to be. The pull of this city, the pulse of its music scene, has always been strong.

This experience has only fueled my desire to keep pushing myself, to keep exploring the depths of sound and emotion. I'm already looking forward to returning to Tresor, perhaps for a Klubnacht set in a different space, to continue this journey and share even more of what lives in my heart and mind.  I'm grateful to Tresor and the New Faces concept for this incredible opportunity. I hope this excerpt offers a glimpse into the sonic landscape I explored that night. More than anything, I hope you enjoy the journey.

Planet Rhythm Podcast Episode #06 - April 2025 by Jack Wax

It's banger o'clock at Jannowitz Records headquarters. We need it, and you probably do, too! With a global pandemic still sabotaging almost all night life around the world, we want to move the focus away from depressing thoughts and hopelessness and onto the dance floor. 

For this very specific task, we found exactly the right producer. Corrado Cardone aka Konrad was born and raised in Italy. While his music has been outstanding for many years, only recently he has drawn more attention to his alias - with releases on Octopus Records and Intec.
Now it's time for him to make waves on Jannowitz Records. We gave him the freedom to go crazy and provided him with four of the most exciting remixers we could find.
The result is "Urano EP". An EP with two super intense original tracks. "Urano" is an absolute heavy hitter - almost trance leaning but 100%% uncompromising. It's the perfect mix of hypnotic peak time techno and otherworldly melodies that spiral on top of the consistent four to the floor.

A quite similar approach was taken on "Prospective". The execution, though, differs quite a bit. "Prospective" is more delicate. The focus shifts from hypnotic elements and percussions towards squeaky synth lines that hit the contemporary ideal that is typical for Jannowitz Records.

As for the remixes, we tried to make things as interesting as possible. We paired techno heavyweight Citizen Kain with KIKO, the French producer who remixed "Abyss Towards Hope" by Pontias and Abstraal not too long ago on JAW and surprised us with his superb skills. Their remix of "Prospective" is exactly what you would expect. It's KIKO's melodic expertise and Citizen Kain's progressive beats. A perfect addition to this EP.

Our second remix duo, or better said: trio, are Teenage Mutants and Jannowitz regular Heerhorst. If you've been following the label over the last months you definitely know the latter (if not: check him out, now!). And the former you will know from one their countless shows all around the world. Their remix of "Urano" is another proper techno banger that will leave many jaws on the (virtual) dance floors dropped. The heavy beats and the spacey synths seem to scream: no mercy! Quite the motto for this whole EP. So techno fans beware: this one is for you!
And last but not least is the fact that the super dope Artwork was made by the Tattoo legend Mirco Campioni !

The third-installment from our Prologue release belongs to a dear friend of Monument who needs no introduction: Claudio PRC. 

His track “Stars Trail Over Oslo” on the release contains a cosmic personality that can only be described as powerfully beautiful or heavenly.
