Toolroom’s very own Pete Griffiths teams up with house music heavyweight, Cevin Fisher to bring you ‘Chicago’; a shining tribute to the spiritual birth place of house.

Whilst tirelessly pushing the label forward, Pete Griffiths has enjoyed his own success with previous releases like ‘Filtered’, ‘No Soul’, and his recent remix of Doorly’s ‘Rush’, alongside touring the globe representing Toolroom. On this latest offering Pete teams up with US legend Cevin Fisher who is no stranger to success with both a tour schedule and list of chart successes that go way back when. Productions like ‘You Got Me Burning Up’ and ‘The Freaks Come Out’ were international hits tackling both the US billboard and UK national charts and inspiring a whole generation of house followers.

Together on ‘Chicago’, Pete Griffiths and Cevin Fisher have captured the spirit of a time when legends like Frankie Knuckles and Larry Levan were spearheading the transformation clubs witnessed from disco into the birth of house music, as the lyrics say, ‘They gave us something to move to; they gave us something to groove to’.
On remix duties one of the hottest new acts on the underground scene Weiss has created a jackin’ tribute laden with old school drums and rumbling bass, London’s man of the moment Vanilla Ace turns in a slick and uber cool deeper take and Italy’s finest Federico Scavo delivers what he does best, a pumping refit ready for the dance floor.

Pete Griffiths - 'Chicago' Mix

Wow. Our podcast has been wracking up some serious airmiles of late. Following on from last weeks jaunt to Brazil to harvest the sounds of Volkoder comes a trip Stateside to enjoy the talents of Louisville based DJ and producer Amtrac. A producer we’ve had our eye on for a while, Amtrac has  quickly amassed a loyal fanbase through a relentless tour and release schedule and with material as strong as his debut release on Toolroom Records, ‘Those Days’ it’s not hard to see why he’s established such a devoted following.

For Amtrac house music is all about “rhythm and soul” and after listening to his work in both the studio and the DJ booth we knew that this was an artist we needed to get on the podcast to share with you. So here it is, 1 hour of unadulterated house bliss courtesy of Amtrac. Enjoy.

Be you just finishing your night out at an after, after party or just unwinding with a nice glass of vino, we embrace the end of the weekend for what it is, a chilled out affair.  Thus, we thought it was about time we started soundtracking this most underrated of times, asking our favourites DJs to dig through their record boxes and serve up something a little different for our brand new Chilled Transmission series.

After last weeks more funk infused mix from Homeboy, fun loving German duo Satin Jackets serve up set of selections designed primarily to make you feel, well human again. We'll freely admit the cold weather and the fact it's still not quite Christmas yet had begun to take its toll on us here at DT towers but luckily Tim B and Den Ishu were on hand to cure our chronic case of SAD with an hour long mix of super sexy, infectious house music that's pure summertime.

"Every mix takes us a few months to find the right music. We pour my heart and soul into it and I hope to be able to take the listener on a little journey" the boys explain. "It doesn’t really matter where to as long as you can close your eyes and let it take you places."

Caché Sessions 003: Seth Magoon

Joyfully floating just under the radar, Bruce has - in short order - established himself as a world class selector and DJ since his first nightclub residency at the age of 19 in his hometown of Philadelphia. In the time since, his unique ear for timing and biological predisposition for 'the funk' has taken him across the country and abroad to share his talent and love.

In 2013 Bruce followed his ear and relocated to New York city where he, again, made his mark, specifically with his two year residency behind a garage door at Kinfolk studios on the then-emerging Wythe avenue in Williamsburg. 

Today, Bruce is in New York, percolating just below the surface.

Razor-N-Tape is the Brooklyn-based duo of JKriv and Aaron Dae. Brought together out of a mutual love of all things groovy, the pair founded their eponymous record label in 2012, building a 30-release-deep catalog over the past 4 years that has helped shape the sound of modern NYC disco. “From ’95 to Now.” I put this together to celebrate the culmination of a wild year that teemed with considerable time spent soul-searching as an individual, and self-deliberating on my musical identity as a DJ, oftentimes both at once.
