Rain Dance by Birds is the first release on Feed The Void, the record label that takes its name from her monthly Netil Radio show. The aim of the label is to shed a light on some of the vast influences that inspire the Birds sound and the music she plays throughout her eclectic DJ sets. Expect plenty of EBM, acid, trance, breaks, electro, slow prog, chug and more. This self release is just the beginning before a series of VAs containing some of her favourite artists and friends. 

The EP itself is a huge melting pot of electro bass-lines, Birds’ distinctive EBM / dark wave inspired vocals, wonky acid, industrial sounding broken rhythms and quirky, unhinged synth lines.

Closer ‘The Sands of Perception’ is a track inspired a passage from Aldous Huxley’s ‘The Doors of Perception.’ Tempo wise, we’re brought back to the mid range, whilst the ominous EBM inspired bass-line contrasts to the warm strings and uplifting vocals. It’s a euphoric ending to one hell of an intense ride.

The room was filled with a thick fog, the windows steamy and blurry with mist. The scent of old sage lingered in the air and in the corner of the room was a small red light which flickered and flashed invitingly as if to tease you inwards.

He’d heard about this place before, it had been shrouded in mystery and intrigue yet never had he imagined it might look as exotic and ludicrous in person.

It was here in which the wildest of fantasies could be obliged, in which dreams could come true and status certified. Perhaps that’s why it had been kept so secret, for once entering the room, there was no going back.
 
Eamon Harkin remains one of the most pivotal figures in the NYC house and electronic music scenes – perhaps best known for his longstanding label and party Mister Saturday Night of which he is the co founder.

This new EP for Sorry Records see’s him focus on the rough, rugged undercurrent of house music in the city – drawing upon lo-fi influences and integrating deep moving basslines alongside an acid tinged flare. This one comes highly recommended..

SoundUnbound Recordings brings together artists from the east of The Netherlands for a Various Artists vinyl release.

The room was full of unfamiliar faces and unfriendly strangers, as soon as he entered he wanted to leave. He was sure he’d know at least a few people, that they’d welcome him with open arms and bring him into the fold. The reality was much different though. It left a sour taste in his mouth and made his stomach squirm uncontrollably. Everyone here already had their inner circles and their close-knit friendship groups, why would they need to embrace anybody new? 

SoundUnbound Recordings boss Fentom is shining a light on the talents in his local stomping ground in the east of The Netherlands. Featuring music HGHR LVLS, Bastian Benjamin, Nerds With Acid, |grens|, Odaira and Oosterse Lach, and the label head himself, the VA vinyl release explores the fringes of acid, electro, techno and bass, with the aim of showing the world what’s happening in this lesser know underground scene.

In Japanese, the word “guru-guru” refers to the state of spinning, whirling. 
This state is captured in the work of Japanese artist Hoshina Anniversary, who makes his third appearance on MUSAR with his EP ‘Guru Guru' and marks the return of the label after an extended break.

Hoshina’s self-titled brand of ‘watechno’ has appeared on well-loved dance music labels like ESP Institute, Volvox’s Jack Dept and Young Marco’s Safe Trip, alongside MUSAR where he also appeared as Shifting Gears back in 2022; an electronic-jazz- centered moniker.

His ‘Guru Guru’ EP captures the latest snapshot of Hoshina’s sound and sees him draw from Japanese language as a through-line. The title track is the clearest representation of his ‘watechno’, where he uses Japanese instrumentation on top of a menacing EBM-style march. The track's slowly whirling momentum is the “guru-guru”.

On tracks like “Banri”, which means far away in Japanese, we see new shades to Hoshina’s work as he mixes a Japanese Wadaiko drum groove with acidic elements and piano melodies to make a track of contradictions which pairs roughness with elegance. Whereas on “Usagi”, Japanese for rabbit, Hoshina fires up the BPM. Piano melodies remain here but their effect is more drifting and emotive than on “Banri”.

“Kaga” is named after a place in the southernmost part of Ishikawa Prefecture, between Kanazawa City and Fukui City. On this track, Hoshina’s love for jazz comes through and even mirrors the work we heard from him under Shifting Gears.

Nascent techno imprint @midgar_records next issuing sees them in retrospective mood with a carefully created remix package for Wata Igarashi's 'Ciphers' release. It pulls together Nuel, Yves De Mey, Oprhx and Shawn O'Sullivan for the vinyl edition, plus r2π - a collaborative project of Retina.it, Ruhig and PRG_M - and Ruff Cherry as additions to the digital version.

Second Woman is the collaborative project featuring Turk Dietrich of Belong and Joshua Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv. 

Josh and Turk have been friends for over 17 years, having met in New Orleans in the late ’90s through mutual friend and future collaborator, Charlie Cooper. The duo have been working on music together on and off since that time.

The concept of Second Woman began with the idea of taking tropes from footwork, dub, house, and techno, and twisting these ideas into something kaleidoscopically liberated from the grid. 
Their work first materialized with two LP’s and an EP on John Elliott and Peter Rehberg’s Spectrum Spools. 

Second Woman tweak the perception of time and space within the audio field into something ASMR-inducing and ultimately satisfying to listen to. Both Josh and Turk experience ASMR in response to certain rhythms and sounds, and effort was made to incorporate these triggers into the music, hopefully for other people to experience as well. 

With Instant / Apart, Second Woman present their complete signature sound as well as a new, more measured dimension to their work.
