Neuron and nerve and membrane stretched taut as wire. Something primordial churning behind the bone-vault. Cal and his phantom self suspended in that gray country between signal and noise where consciousness threads itself through synaptic landscapes like drought-worn cattle through dead arroyos. 

The string waves—synthetic and terrible—vibrating outside known physics, outside the thin membrane of what passes for understanding. Forty years accumulating like sediment. Like bone dust. Like the quiet residue of unspoken trajectories.

HomunculoCal: a shadow-self riding the electric current. Nicotine and caffeinabinoids and pure unmapped neural topology. No mercy. No forgiveness. Just the relentless propagation of interior harmonies that do not yield, do not submit.
