Trump Rising

Demo version for the Sidon combat theme. My computer crashed and I lost access to many VST libraries. I wasn't happy with this, but at the same time I had put time and effort into it. So I decided I could release it as a bonus track as a sort of "sorry for taking so damn long".

I created this track by improvising on a Gibson SG over three variations of a drum pattern. I produced the drums using custom sounds I made on the AKAI MPC Live and the Teenage Engineering PO-32. I also played the bass part on a Sire J7—my marvelous fretless bass.

STRAIGHT UP

I was thinking of the phrase "Isn't it pretty to think so?" the famous last line from Ernest Hemingway's novel "The Sun Also Rises". It's a bittersweet expression of longing and acceptance, often used to acknowledge a beautiful but ultimately unattainable idea or hope. "Pretty" didn't really work for the song but that was the sentiment behind the lyrics.
