We're delighted to present an ethereal live mix from Justin Collins at Burning Man 2022, from Camp Conception's annual Beard Spa, up next. 

Justin writes: "This mix was inspired by the quintessential vibes at Camp Conception's annual Beard Spa. When I arrived people were kicked back in the shade in lawn chairs with their eyes closed getting beard trims and face/neck massages. Meanwhile others were mingling and doing a bit of butt wiggling to the tunes. It was late afternoon and the sun was beating down again after the dust settled from a recent wind storm. Benjamin (Konifer) welcomed me with a big pleasant surprise smile as I think we both were unsure if I'd make it. After all this was my first burn and I was down the rabbit hole most of the time. Add some logistics to that and finding your way and showing up on time can be a bit of a struggle. But I made it! 

These track selections are just my soul reflecting back what I was feeling from the Beard Spa zone. Giving those listening some sun shining deep and uplifting house and disco. It was a lovely experience. Thank you Camp Conception and the Beard Spa!"

ConceptionCast 7: Justin Collins at Beard Spa 8-31-22

A DJ of 17 years, Justin's style is heavily influenced by his early years growing up in the Florida Breaks scene in the late 90's and early 2000's, living in Europe for a couple years (notably his visits to Lisbon, Portugal), and more recently living on the US West Coast in Seattle and now San Francisco. He recently launched the Oopsie Dayzee monthly day party at Mars Bar, San Francisco. For 7yrs when he lived in Seattle, Justin was a Viva Recordings Resident DJ for the monthly THIS! party at Monkey Loft, Seattle. 

Justin is deeply passionate about honoring the history and tradecraft of deejaying, witnessed by his obsessive vinyl digging addiction and all vinyl sets. His approach as a DJ is to weave through many genres, a kind of journey through historical and contemporary sounds and styles of electronic music. As such, his style is hard to class as this or that, and that's just way he likes it. The fundamental role of electronic music based in its roots, is the ability for it to tear down the little boxes that constrain our growth as a human race and instead open up new doors of perception necessary to advance. At the end of the day, What you can expect from Justin is his superb selections skillfully presented in a way to make you move and groove, and on occasion to think a little differently about the concept of music.
