He is a DJ, producer, joint founder of the Hi-Hat club, creative brain behind AUDDA records, co-owner of the Groove Attack record store in Cologne, and lover of deep jazz and soul: Twit One is one of the hottest cats in the German beat-smith scene. He calls his own music Cool Bap style - a chilled blend of Boom Bap and soulful cool jazz, that he already presented to the world with several solo albums and EPs on labels like MPM, Entbs or his very own AUDDA imprint. For Carhartt WIP Radio Twit One mixed a show consisting of soon to be released and maybe never released material with involvement from the UK's Henry Wu, Lorenzo Merluzzo, US DJ, producer, singer/songwriter and trumpet player Miles Bonny and the quiet sounds of a grasshoppers swarm. For this month’s Carhartt WIP Radio show we bring you FloFilz, one of Germany’s most in-demand hip hop producers. Since 2013 he has released instrumental records on labels such as Melting Pot Music and Jakarta, with a style that seductively blends soul- and jazz-influenced grooves.

FloFilz’s first two albums as a beatmaker were collaborative works, and in late 2014 he released his first solo LP titled "Metronom". Four instrumental albums have since followed, cementing his reputation as jazz-connoisseur producer, who seeks to open up the genre to a new generation of listeners.

For his Carhartt WIP Radio show, he melds older work with tracks from his upcoming album "Transit". As usual we also sat down to speak to this month’s host, chatting about his upbringing, Bach and J Dilla, and his thoughts on Germany’s hip hop scene. Copenhagen based party starter Dj Universe presents a mix of 100% Azymuth: 

"In February 2015 my friends Sean and Anthon booked Azymuth for a show in Copenhagen and somehow I ended up juggling the roles of being the designated driver, camera man and warm up DJ for the concert. I will never forget those days. The group turned the depressing Danish winter into summer at the snap of a finger just with their presence and the concert itself had one of the most diverse audiences I’ve ever experienced in Copenhagen, all coming together under the warm Azymuth groove. 

Narrowing down 40 years of great music down to a 1h 47m mix was a tough process and I know there are some obvious ones missing, nevertheless I tried my best to grasp and represent the versatile soundscape the group has left behind. The mix spans over 4 decades and about 75 BPM, from the shade of the palm tree to the floor in the club, and I hope it can provide just a little of the magic that I felt witnessing the group play live."
