My first ever song at the age of 17, composed in 1971 with a great deal of help from John Masefield, Poet Laureate from 1930 until 1967, whose poem I borrowed. The chorus, though, is from an old sea shanty called "Haul Away Joe". The music is mine however, utilizing all the few chords I had recently learnt that year, having just taken up the guitar. The way it's performed here, is very different to the way I played and sang it in 1972.

I think it's time to share some oldies that are asleep in my laptop since too long. This one was part of "The Open Path" album project. I had access during one week to a room full of instruments, so I recorded a lot piano and other stuff, and mixed all together during the next months.

Hiyodori (Brown-eared Bulbul) flew away and left the red berries. (Buson 1716-1784)
Hiodori (a fire dance) is over. The remaining fire is darkish red.

Several parts mixed in this track were played on my son's Dean Sea Green Palomino while he left it with me for some maintenance work.  Everything here was recorded through a Fender Vibrolux Reverb.

Barbara Gogan, Salvatore Principato, Ken Man, Scott Hartley, Thomas Truax , Johanna Hugring, Martina Hoogland, Amanda Garrett and many others. For many years I also wrote Jingles for a lot of products like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Mc Donalds, Toyota, Kodak, Payless Shoes, Rothman's, Salsa Tabasco, JC Penny, Liberty Science Center, American Heart Association, MCI, Reebok, AT&T, Fanta, Play Movil, etc, I also made music for Viacom writing music for cartoon networks, Bravo TV, Chanel 1, and MTV. Also wrote music for Bill Moyers (PBS)and also for Fax TV in Germany.
