Mit einfachen Worten erklärt Markus Weicker seinen Künstlernamen, und genauso klingen auch die Beats des Produzenten: bodenständig, ehrlich, unsynthetisch. Der Offenbacher, der 2010 erstmals eine MPC in die Hand bekommt und einige Jahre eher für sich im Kämmerlein Instrumentals baut, steht nicht auf den dicken Aufstrich.
Lieber pflegt Gibmafuffi das oldschoolige Eastcoast-Erbe des 90er-Hip Hop. Der Autodidakt feiert entspannte, warme Boom Baps mit leichter Jazznote, implementiert in seine Tracks Vocalcuts von Curse, Blumentopf und Retrogott.
"Dexter Gordon, Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Paul Desmond, John Coltrane, eine Flasche Jägi und eine Packung Tabak: für mich der perfekte Abend", unterstreicht Weicker.
2014 sorgt er mit der Beinahe-Instrumental-EP "Trinkhallenromantik" für erstes Aufhorchen. Anfang 2016 veröffentlicht der langjährige Freund und Beatbastler von Döll seine erste eigene Instrumental-LP. Labelheimat bieten die Heilbronner von WSP Entertainment.
Noch vor der Musik arbeitet Weicker semi-hobbymäßig mit seinem Bruder Michael als Videoproduzent. Unter dem Namen The Factory basteln die beiden unter anderem Videos für Kollegah oder Genetikk. Zu seinen musikalischen Traumproduktionen rechnet Gibmafuffi Hiob, Karate Andi und Audio88 & Yassin.
"Liebe für Jazz, Soul und Musik aus den 70ern auf Vinyl hatte ich schon immer", erklärt Gibmafuffi. "Es gibt für mich nichts Größeres, als stundenlang Musik durchzuhören." So nutzt er für seine Veröffentlichungen auch obskure Samples, bei denen mal DDR-Jazz, mal alte kroatische Fernsehserien als Quelle dienen.

This set holds a special place in my heart.

It's my debut, captured at the opening gig of Synergie, hosted by the incredible Synthese crew –  being a fresh member of the association made this night extra special, especially with my friends cheering me on.

Playing in front of a live crowd for the first time felt like a surreal experience - seeing the floor fill up and feeling the crowd's energy was beyond words. I was super nervous at first, but that quickly turned into loads of fun. I had a really great time! 

The set captures the highs and lows of my four-week prep – my personal rollercoaster of emotions. It's a mix between bright and dark tones, blending positive melodic techno with a touch of darker melodies. Mixed in were some familiar edits that I bet everyone would recognize.

Excited for what's coming next and grateful for the support.
