Magic Lake, Part 2

This set was recorded live from Underland, a new regional burn in Australia. It was played atop the incredible UKI artcar. 

I started playing at twilight, with cocktails on the hill above the Theme Camp area. As day turned to night we drove as a procession down to the giant emu effigy.  We shut the music off to participate in a smoking ceremony led by legendary Uncle Ron (spliced out of this recording). The last part of the set (from 36 minutes) accompanies the build-up, lighting and burning of the effigy and accompanying celebrations.

This set was a great challenge for me, very much "in the moment," riding the bumps on UKI and reacting to the ever-changing energy of the fire and the environment. It wasn't designed for home listening, but I hope it may provide a happy memory for those who were fortunate to be present, and a brief insight for those who weren't!

Born into a family of engineers, and musicians, Hector Fierro, always had a keen passion for, music, and machines. His affinity with music led to him learning to play the trumpet, and drums at a young age, which quickly developed into an ardent interest for electronic music. |

At 18, after traveling extensively around, Asia, Europe and America. He established his promotion company called, Aphfunk. Which was responsible for numerous parties featuring artist like, &ME, Nick Curly, Phonique, and Radio Slave, to name a few in the city of El Paso, Texas, and its border city, Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. In 2014 he moved to Los Angeles and started making his rounds at different clubs and bars such as Couture, where he played multiple times for the well known night on Hollywood, Clinic Wednesdays.

Sriracha ⁕ Rancho-O-Relaxo Autumn Gathering 2019

"I'm a mixture of cultures myself", said MarinJah. Born in Ukraine and grew up in Israel, she has traveled around the world and lived in Toronto for seven years. Then, with her willingness to discover new places and this whole multi-cultural environment, she took an enriching experience as a background to shape and diversify her artistic traces being a DJ. Her love for electronic music is influenced by the rave scene, however, in recent years, a downtempo world music interest has blossomed through her heart. Last year Marinjah started to mix and explore the art of djing since she's now back to Israel and living in the beautiful North's landscapes, which is probably a new chapter in her life. 

Inspired by her dearest slow deeper collection, this 150th edition was recorded after a sunset which gave place to a rising moon. From 80 to 90bpm, the precise 92-min MarinJah's selection tends towards warmth and melody, while ambiance suggests a sense of place and submerged rhythms generate seamless transitions. As the mixtape plays out, directed by a cosmic-ethnic scope, the motto is clear: be here now. Have a wonderful week you all!

A visionary, DJ, composer and producer, Othon creates soul-sailing journeys accompanied by electronic and acoustic instruments alike. Floating somewhere between melancholy and ecstasy (and often in both at the same time) his music promotes fusion of body and mind, soul and spirit.

Othon has performed his work across Europe and in diverse venues such as the Tate Modern, the Roundhouse and the National Portrait Gallery in London, the MCF in Athens and Palazzo Saluzzo Paesana in Turin. As an experimentalist and songwriter, Othon has collaborated with influential artists such as Marc Almond (Soft Cell), Wolfgang Tillmans, the late Peter Christopherson (co-founder of Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV and Coil), Ernesto Tomasini and David Tibet (Current 93). He has also scored the soundtrack to performances by several international avant-garde artists including Ron Athey, Franko B and Lee Adams.

Othon is the founder of the pivotal Papa Loko events which bring together ‘cosmic soundscapes with self-expansive spiritual concepts’. Papa Loko has featured UK debuts from now established international talent and is growing a worldwide reputation. He is also the founder of Consciousness Expansion; a music channel and label that promotes the finest upcoming spirit-infused electronic sounds and beyond.
