Our logo is inspired by the design of influential record labels in founder Golden Boy Mike's past, such as the first house music label in Chicago, DJ International, and the label that first featured the turntable on it's jackets, Def Jam.  The logo is hand-drawn, not a picture, which makes it even more remarkable.  The lightning bolts are from Golden Boy Mike's first hand-drawn logo in the mid 1980's when he was aspiring to be a dj.  Now almost 30 years later it has come full circle with the launch of MJS Records.

Lois is a composer based in Bath who specialises in writing for chamber ensembles. Her work explores the use of pitch, syncopated rhythms and texture and also varying concepts behind each piece.

She is currently studying for a Masters in composition at Bath Spa University. Lois has been commissioned to write for a number of chamber groups including Plus Minus, Scapegoat and the specialist new music group of Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Kokoro. Her work has been performed in various venues across Bath and Bristol including Bath Abbey, The Holburne Museum, The Royal West of England Academy, Darlington Hall and St George’s.

Lois has also been involved in a wide range of collaborations from working with members from the Pump Room Trio and Bath Philharmonia Orchestra to writing music for the Bath based charity The Trauma Recovery Centre and also working with film and dance.

Ivy Sutherland are a sparkly, eclectic trio defined by their uniquely mysterious and dream-like sound. Ivy performs with Dan Latham on drums and Euan Ritchie on mandola/guitar. Together they blend traditional acoustic folk elements with dark, eerie electric sounds. During an Ivy Sutherland set you will find yourself both foot-stomping and floating away in one fell swoop.

A collaboration between Jess Rymer and Glen Montanaro which explores Maltese and Yorkshire folk songs and stories through sound using two distinct musical approaches.

Mark has been producing and remixing electronica music using Cubase since 2008 and has been writing for the past 35 years.
