El Codicilo de Isabel is the score’s most tragic passage. A solitary viola begins with the Gregorian chant Dies Irae, joined gradually by the rest of the ensemble until the double bass shifts the harmony into a fragile major chord: a fleeting moment of light within grief, echoing Queen Isabel’s deathbed scene.

"Acacia,” my latest piece, is now available everywhere. Its inspiration comes from a tree partially visible from my studio’s garden. Each time I step outside for fresh air, my eyes are drawn to it. Watching it change through the seasons—its branches turning lush and green, blooming with delicate white acacias, shedding leaves, embracing winter’s snow, and blossoming again—reflects the cycles of life for me. It reminds me that some of life’s deepest truths are often right before us, if we only take the time to see them. This piece was born from those quiet reflections. The cover photo captures one of the tree’s most beautiful moments.

Cedric Vermue is a Dutch composer and a producer of neo-classical music. His work is stylized by a blend of classical styles and instruments, mostly piano and strings, combined with contemporary electronic elements. The music’s aesthetics are strongly based upon the principle of stillness, bringing a quieting calm in a world full of turmoil. Working with various textures and layers combined with intimately recorded acoustic elements, the music becomes a carefully crafted landscape. This welcomes any listener to submerge into a poetic universe of sound. His most recent interests include various analog synths, organ and Gregorian chant.

Born in a small town in the Netherlands, Cedric began playing the piano at the age of 8. When he was 14 he started producing film music on the computer and writing piano compositions. In subsequent years, while studying at Utrecht Conservatory of Music, he began incorporating electronics, strings and ambiences within his music. This exploration culminated into his graduation project, in which he collaborated with six string players and live recordings in the concert hall of the Conservatory. This project was self-released in 2018 as an EP, “Ember”. After graduation he started an intensive studio project, producing two albums, in association with various string players and producer Antal van Nie.

Cedric’s debut album, Left Upon Us, is released in 2019 by Piano & Coffee records. in 2023 he released 'Perpetua' with Mylja records.
