This piece will be performed at the Mostly Modern Festival next June by the American Modern Ensemble. This is a Work in Progress Mock Up before the Premiere.

Program Note:
This chamber piece delves into the vibrant musical traditions of Morocco, particularly those of the Amazigh people, the heart and soul of the Atlas Mountains. The earthquake of September 8th, 2023, cast a long shadow, especially in these mountainous regions where many Amazigh people reside. While the loss of life across Morocco was significant, the music itself transcends sorrow.

It explores the transformative power of music in the face of loss, reflecting the Amazigh belief in celebrating life even after a period of mourning. In their culture, grief eventually gives way to music and dance, a beautiful way to honour departed loved ones. This spirit of resilience and celebration infuses the very essence of this piece.

The evocative melodies of the High Atlas, often accompanied by unique percussion wind and stringed instruments, become a testament to the enduring spirit of the Amazigh people.  This work serves as the first movement of a larger suite exploring the rich tapestry of Moroccan music. It's a personal interpretation, where the threads of tradition and contemporary influences are intricately woven together.

While this piece aspires to offer a humble tribute to those lost in the earthquake and celebrate the enduring strength and vibrant cultural heritage of the Amazigh people and Moroccans in general, it ultimately seeks to foster a cross-cultural conversation. This creative interplay, however modest a contribution, seeks to transcend borders, enriching the global artistic landscape and building bridges of understanding across diverse cultures. Ultimately, this composition is a celebration of life, resilience, and the unifying power of music.

Released May 10th, 2024, Soul Killer is the latest single by The Lucidia Project. It features a full production by Danny Meyer of Sunway studios in Germany. Featuring lush string arrangements, haunting lead guitar lines, heavy rhythm and bass guitar, and death metal inspired drumming, Soul killer represents an evolution on the bands sound. Piano melodies are also found throughout this song. Vocally, the song features both smooth melodic vocals juxtaposed with harsh vocals. Poetic and emotionally driven lyrics are at the heart of this song

Henes swings for the fences with a radio ready ode to the joys of domestic life.

From his home base of Nashville, TN, Mark Henes has spent the last few years establishing himself as an artist who could emerge from the city’s crowded singer/songwriter scene to become a genuine star. His latest single, the guitar heavy ‘What Could You Be Right Now’ furthers his case, with a sound that will sound right at home on country radio while retaining his signature grit.

Like many country songwriters before him, Henes often sings of broken hearts and life on the road, but on this song he issues a simple plea to a lover: what if we left that all behind and agreed to be happy together? With a hypnotically staccato hook, he makes a compelling case for the joys of companionship. And while we don’t know what becomes of the relationship, the aching plea will tug  at the heartstrings of any one whose longing to find the right person to settle down with.

What Could You Be Right Now

Longtime followers of Mark Henes know that he has a habit of shifting eﬀortlessly from punk to country and back. On his foreboding new single, he fully embraces the former, with thrashing electric guitars backing up his signature booming baritone to create an energetic anthem for the end of times.

“Nostradamus is upon us, and what do you think will come?” Henes sings in the songs opening lines. It’s pretty clear that the future looks bleak from his perspective, but rather than wallow in pity, Mark uses his lyrical gifts to find reason for celebration in the face of hopelessness. The intricate guitar play and thundering drums provide listeners with a much needed sense of catharsis for the chaotic times we’re living in.

As he prepares the release of his debut full length album ‘Crystallized Reflections,’ it is clear that Mark is not content to be pigeon holed into just one sound. If this single is any indication, he is ready for a long and unpredictable career.

Ladat, born Ladislav Tesar, is Litomerice (Czech republic) native, body and soul, who writes and composes his music in Chatel-St-Denis, Switzerland. Ladat is not a band in the true sense of the word, but rather a musical project that emerged in 2019 as an escape from reality, because things go better with music.

Ladat's musical odyssey defies conventional labels and freely blends elements of rock, folk, country, and jazz into a rich and genre-bending style that invites listeners to explore the diverse spectrum of influences that shape his emotional and diverse compositions.
As an experienced composer and lyricist, Ladat weaves stories that deeply resonate with audiences and offers a captivating and immersive musical experience, where each song is an expression of boundless passion, creativity, and an unapologetic celebration of musical diversity.

Since 2021, Ladat has been collaborating freely with the Slovenian A7 Recording Studio and musicians around guitarist and drummer Blaž Pavšič, such as Uroš Mohorič (guitar), Gregor Alič aka Hanson or Peter Beznec (bass), and singers Anton Premec, Kristina Jelić, Maja Štebih, Hana Pavšič or Oliver Neff aka Titanic Jack.
