We're very happy to finally share with you our first release of 2016 as we bring our second Italian artist onto EarToGround. 

'Ness' also known as Andrea Deplano first caught our attention with his seminal track 'Neuronic' with came out late 2014 on Pole Group. Soon after work started on a full Ep for EarToGround. 

Tracks included have been specially made for the release and each individually display his excellent dynamic range, sound design and unique take on Techno. 

It has has been tried and tested in the best situations possible with excellent crowd response throughout. You will find a place in a set for all the tracks inside.

Being played and supported by the likes of: Marcel Dettmann, Answer Code Request, DVS1, Dax J, Boris, Stephanie Sykes, Gareth Wild, Chris Stanford, Pfirter, Emmanuel, Ben Sims, Truncate, Etapp Kyle, Sigha and Peter Van Hoesen...

For this and our next three releases we welcome back one of our original graphic designers 'Grade A'. We feel the audio and visual here match perfectly.

Dreiklang Records set sail in February 2016 with the excellent First Contact EP which featured OCH, Hydergine and Kelovolt, three singular artists each handing in their own contrasting take on the same source material. The Berlin-based vinyl-only label now returns with the same concept for the Loop Continue EP. For their second release Dreiklang call upon three strong figures of the techno scene, each displaying a highly distinct voice in keeping with the triangular concept of the label: Scottish veteran Edit Select and Italian purveyors of everything dark and deep, Dino Sabatini and Claudio PRC.

The three tracker kicks off with the deep sub-aquatic sounds of Tony Scott aka Edit Select, who produces the original version of Loop Continue, an introspective DJ tool. The Scottish producer goes straight to the point from the very start with a dusky loop that is slowly overcome by a glistening, luxuriant drone.

Claudio PRC hands in a stunning rework. A hypnotizing bass drives the track forward while tranquil chords ease in and out of focus.

Finally, Dino Sabatini, a regular collaborator of Edit Select, drops in fresh from the release of his Omonimo LP. The Outis Music boss closes the EP on a dreamy piece of broken-beat where beautiful glowing drones command attention.

Loop Continue is set for vinyl-only release June 14th on Dreiklang. The records will come as a 180g vinyl with handmade covers by Nils Atland, limited to 500 pieces.

A genuine sense of intrigue surrounds d_func.  Designed in the shadows of a distinctly deep and iconic techno character. Patterns of Confusion explores the complexities of his distinctive voice. Pfirter continues the narrative with a peak time odyssey.  Available on vinyl mid June 2016.

DSC is enjoying its most productive year to date, and its not even half way through. Cliche Morph is a mysterious new entity, debuting with Liquid Materia. The title track melts streams of melody, chords dissolve in currents as a steady thump tries to tame the sonorous swash. Claudio PRC, of Prologue fame, interprets the tides of the original. Aquatic ambience floods speaker as sounds are kept below the waves in a dream state. “Impulse Inside Mechanism” pulls you further into the haunted machinery of Cliche Morph. Wraithlike harmonies ache, ghosting between steady percussion for a work of palpable emotion. That tactile quality comes to the fore with “Alternative Solution.” Rhythms are given extra girth, bass lines given extra room as strings swim before they soar.

Hydrangea - Beyond The Invisible [CNTPH012] (Preview)

The newest entry in the Monad series comes courtesy of the French duo Charlotte Isabelle; and behind this unassuming name there lies an immediately perceptible depth and innovation. With a determined yet unpredictable approach that evokes the history of their home country’s creative avant-gardes, they deliver a uniquely organic electronic music that seems as if it has been finely aged for years in oak barrels rather than residing on a computer’s hard drive. This tension between atmospheres of ultra-modernism and pre-industrial craftsmanship makes for an intriguing listening experience from beginning to finish.
The leadoff track for their Monad contribution, “Anaba,” is an excellent introduction to their aesthetic, with the beat galloping along like some ingenious steam-powered contraption. A vocabulary of hisses and metallic hits adds to this feeling of an alternate history of technology, while creeping bass sequences keep the listener anchored in the present day. In the grand Monad tradition, it’s a danceable piece of storytelling. “Geridoo” continues this adventure in a slower tempo, with more steam rising up from Charlotte Isabelle’s machinery and with snare drum rolls snapping the listener to attention. A multi-layered droning undulates all around this percussive framework, making for an exquisite balance of the ethereal and the solid.
By the third track (“Desba”), the rhythms and environmental loops become more distinctly ritualistic and archaic, revealing Charlotte Isabelle’s skill as sonic time travelers. Tactile scrapings and distant vocal-like emissions point to an archaeological exercise carried out with beats and tones as the main exploratory tools.
After this excursion, the duo closes the EP with an immersive piece of stellar ambience that comes from an unknown time and place: an alien transmission that is the perfect capstone to a recording which, to this point, has kept its imagination tethered to the Earth. By the time the last glimmers of this track fade away, it’s clear that Charlotte Isabelle knows how to tap electronic music’s unlimited potential for fascination.

After 2 revered releases since the turn of the year, Weekend Circuit return, welcoming Alfredo Mazzilli for his first EP on the imprint. Versatile in sound and challenging in his approach, Alfredo’s ‘Invisible Entity’ EP masterfully pushes ambitious ideas with great vigor to an international audience ever more ready to listen.

With artists such as Donato Dozzy, Aphex Twin, Sandwell District, Dino Sabatini and Substance making up a strong part of his most notable influencers, Alfredo favours the ambient & deep depths of the dark side of techno.
Enigmatic and unrestricted, Side A starts with Alfredo's original "Invisible Entity". A steadily unfolding juggernaut, the emerging energy soon engulfs the entirety of the track, percussian transcending the gloaming synth sound throughout.

Zadig's beckoning bass and kick drum driven remix will see sonic nods across the club with this four-on-the-floor gristle. "Statiform Region" is techno's answer to a cinematic interlude. A testament to Alfredo's lilting synth ability.

"No Way Out" kicks off the B side, with a algorithmic tinkering of sonic vs low hits and stabs. Rounding up, Echologist does what Echologist does best; a scattershot of intertwined and precarious techno sound, spliced with industrialised power.

A creative, radical, and emotionally skittering 13th release from Weekend Circuit, which will be released in stores worldwide on 25th July 2016.

One of the world’s most celebrated clubs, The Haçienda, opened 30 years ago today, on Friday May 21st 1982. I’ll be heading over to Manchester tonight for the anniversary celebrations, joining other DJ’s from the club’s history to play a few tunes at a ticket only event (proceeds to charity) in the car park where the club once stood.

I also thought it would provide the perfect opportunity to upload my ‘Walking On Confusion’ mash-up here, which combines 2 Arthur Baker productions from New Order and Rockers Revenge – it’s origin was outlined by Peter Hook in his 2009 book ‘The Haçienda – How Not To Run A Club’, where the New Order bassist recalled the time I asked him if I could remix ‘Blue Monday’ back in 1983, when I was the club’s Friday night resident DJ. 

He wrote; “I remember him coming up to me, asking if he could remix ‘Blue Monday’. I told him to fuck off, thinking it was the most disgusting thing anyone had ever suggested – why should we let someone tamper with our work? How times change. Nowadays the remixes are often better than the originals. I don’t remember much of Greg beyond that episode, although I know he mixed ‘Walking On Sunshine’ by Rockers Revenge into New Order’s ‘Confusion’, which was ingenious. The first mash-up.”
