As part of the UK based non-profit, the Mindful Living Community, Lucy Chan teaches mindfulness, self-compassion & Buddhism internationally. She leads retreats for the mindfulness charity The Sharpham Trust & co-created their Self-Compassion programme. Her interests lie in learning how to befriend & embrace our inner landscapes whilst relating to the outside world & others in a kind & compassionate way. As a practising medical doctor, she understands the importance of integrating mindfulness and self-compassion practices as a way to keep balance in everyday life.

The non-profit Center for Mindful Self-Compassion is devoted solely to disseminating self-compassion. Self-compassion can be defined as learning to treat yourself the way you would treat a good friend when they suffer, fall short or fail in some way. Founded in 2012 by Kristin Neff, PhD and Christopher K. Germer, PhD, the center is a place where people can learn about self-compassion, find out where to train in MSC, continue to practice MSC skills, and explore how to teach MSC to others.
