Over a five week period I will be releasing a new 15 track Moving Shadow tribute mix weekly, each dedicated to a specific year from 1993 to 1997. I think that when you hear the whole series, you will be able to understand just what an amazing and creative label Moving Shadow was, as in the space of just five years they released everything from euphoric breakbeat hardcore to sinister darkcore to jungle anthems to rugged hardstep to smoothly atmospheric drum n' bass to fearsome techstep, and beyond.

This time he presents 10 more tracks of space-age and dreamy atmospheric dnB. The title track sets the tone perfectly with drifting pads & sci-fi beats bound together with a mystical spirit. The dream-like qualities continue until we take a reflective turn with 'Autumn Mist' before switching back to sci-fi and mystical inspired beats before the mellow break-work of 'Jamarillo' brings the journey to an end. Eschaton will be back again later this year with some exclusive collaborations and a few surprises.

Here we are with Volume 2 of my Liquified Soul sessions mix series. Two hours of soulful liquid drum & bass - on the deep, jazzy, and melodic end of the spectrum. Some dubby heaters in there as well, for good measure.

Compared to Volume 1, this one goes a bit more uptempo with higher energies -especially in the first hour, while the latter half goes deeper and more melodic which is more reminiscent of Volume 1. 

Featuring music from artists such as Calibre, LSB, Janaret, Zero T, FD, Goldie, Redeyes, RoyGreen & Protone, Atlantic Connection, Marcus Intalex, Syncline, and many more. 

Some prominent labels featuring in the mix are The North Quarter, Jazzsticks, Spearhead, Liquid V, Footnotes, Hospital Records, etc.

The response to Volume 1 was astounding, so I hope you all enjoy this next chapter as well.

We asked Stereo:Type about the process of making this mix, and here is what he had to say:

"When you're commissioned to make a mix for DJ Shadow, you know you have to pull something special out of the bag. Making sure it was a musical experience was as much a key part of this as making it a hype mix to listen to, considering you are working with material by a guy whose process involves finding sounds which work together as though they were made for one another. When i was approached to do this, I was asked to make the mix using material either sampled by, or remixed for or by Shadow. So Instead of making it a straight up one track into another kind of mix, I tried to approach it like a live performance, deconstructing tracks into their component parts then re-assembling and combining them with my own take on it. I certainly hope people have as much of a blast listening to it as i did making it."

The Dreams Mix

In 2009, I consulted for, and appeared in, Activision's DJ Hero video game.   As part of my involvement, I performed at quite a few industry events and eventually did a couple of club dates.  Some of these sets were more rehearsed than others, and the quality varied.  This one, recorded live on Halloween night at a KCRW benefit, was far and away my favorite of the bunch...both in terms of technical display and song selection.  I'll post some of the other recorded sets later, there's some nice moments along the way.- DJ Shadow
