We're absolutely delighted to welcome back Changing Faces to Fokuz Recordings.  Hailing from a small city called Piešťany – Slovakia she infuses warm piano melodies with ambient chords underlined by light paced drums and breaks to create well-considered drum & bass music that's not only for the dancefloor but the headphone commute as well. 

With the Direction EP things are no different as she delivers four intricate cuts. JBT and All That You Got both feature fellow Slovakian producer Ero Drummer. The EP's title track and The Moment VIP are solo efforts.

The mix Kasper sent Emplate and I is an absolute masterpeice, featuring a well thought out track selection with silky, smooth liquid tracks, neuro, old school sounding amen tunes, driving rollers, and downtempo, deep dnb!! This mix will take you on one hell of a ride!

Let's meet our dj for episode 297, Kasper:

Anthony Kasper, more commonly known by just his surname, is a Minneapolis based producer and DJ specializing in Drum + Bass music. At only 25 years old, he may be one of the younger faces in the scene, but he’s not short on experience. 2016 marked his first European tour covering stops in 5 different countries including the Czech Republic for the world renowned Let It Roll festival and London for Bailey’s exclusive Soul In Motion night. 

In 2015, Kasper signed with Fokuz Recordings as his preferred outlet for releasing his music. His back catalog boasts over 50 tracks on over 28 EPs and 8 vinyl releases. His collaboration with Satl entitled Mr. Funky hit the number 2 spot on the Beatport Drum + Bass charts for over 3 weeks. Just a few short weeks later; he followed it up with another Beatport top ten charting track “Suggestions.”

Kasper’s production style combines his hiphop and jazz based background with clean, high-energy basslines that stimulate the dance floor and satisfy the casual listener. His music is regularly supported by mainstays in the music community like DJ Marky, Giles Peterson, Bryan G, Etherwood, and Random Movement. You can find him hosting the Fokuz Recordings podcast every month with special guest mixes showcasing the best in soulful drum + bass.

The Blackout train has well and truly left the station already in 2017, and with the year’s debut single from Black Sun Empire featuring collaborations with Noisia and Pythius the momentum that is being gathered so early is bordering on frightening.

BSE have delivered another beautifully constructed single that blends the tough sound fans are used to with Noisia’s brains and Pythius’ brawn. The depth of knowledge and talent in tandem with BSE’s creative capacity makes the single just the adrenaline shot the scene needed to jump start the year. “The Veil” takes a more scaled back approach by pushing its energy through a souled out bassline, whilst Pythius’ influence can be heard in “Catalyst” as it swings violently, yet gracefully, through a string of hot tempered breaks.

The great news is that this is not just a single release, but the prologue to an epic journey that Black Sun Empire are to embark upon in 2017, with the group stating recently:
“we’re excited to announce we’ve been working on our next album and we’re almost finished, can’t wait to tell everyone more about it soon”
As a statement this is incredible news, as many fans and peers have been waiting for a BSE longplayer for a while. However, when you look at “The Veil”/”Catalyst” as the hors d’oeuvre and appetiser, the main course is guaranteed to attain Michelin star status.

They’re back! Liquid powerhouse GLXY aka Jonathan Campbell and Tom Alston, have been making some serious waves in the DnB scene since their debut release with us in 2015. With impressive work on labels like Spearhead & Limitless as well as having featured on Hospital’s We Are 21 compilation at the start of the year, the duo are returning to Soulvent as if they never left – if a little older and wiser. The Butterfly Effect EP is a classic offering from the pair, showcasing their languid style of production in 3 original tracks, one of which sees an overdue collaboration with Hospital’s own Hugh Hardie & veteran wordsmith Visionobi. Not to forget a remix of last year’s Lonely featuring Belle Humble completes the duo’s record.

Butterfly Effect features friends & contemporaries in the form of mic controller Visionobi and Bristolian golden-boy Hugh Hardie – hot off the release of his debut album. Opening with tenuous, shimmering tones and hypnotising lyrics, the drop culminates in the trademark GLXY sound.
