When I learned Öona Dahl was going to headline the Deities & Demons Masquerade Ball 2024 - I immediately booked my tickets. I find Öona’s music a doorway into another world, one I never knew existed until I learned of her music preparing to go to Burning Man in 2016. The vibe at CoSM was amazing. It's a non-alcoholic event which is maybe one reason the love in the woods was so powerful. There were easy conversations about life, dreams and journeys shared by all. It was like heaven on Earth I told Alex Grey while I purchased their book "We Love Us" and took a selfie. I attend Art Church when I can and now, I know everyone a little better.   Sitting in the Mushroom Cafe the next day having lunch and drinking coffee, it was like my favorite Sci-fi short story "Why I left Harry’s All Night Hamburgers" by Lawrence Watt-Evans.

In "Why I left Harry’s All Night Hamburgers" a young man starts work at a late-night diner which has many strange visitors in the wee hours. They are time travelers, the diner is a portal which is known throughout the universe as a safe place to get a good burger. Once you time travel you can never go back to where you started. The young man was thinking about hitching a ride on one of the ships, but a wise time traveler advised him to see Earth first before leaving your past behind. His story is told from Angkor Wat to a group sitting around their campfire. That is what it is like at the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors’ Mushroom Cafe. I can't wait to go back!

For those who knew Phil K through his music will know he was a one-of-a-kind talent, a global dance music pioneer who promoted niche producers, and pushed the boundaries of electronic music through technology and raw skill. 

Those lucky enough to have had Phil in their personal life can attest that he was that rare kind of human, a man who approached everyone judgement-free, and with an open heart. He was also the type of person that treated everyone he met with love and respect, and, is if they were a good friend.
 
We were also privileged to have known Phil personally and also honoured to have him as part of the Balance Music family. Back in 2002, he compiled a release that for many is still one of the most significant entries into the Balance Series. It was a statement of the intense passion that Phil had for electronic music, and his ability to effortlessly connect dots between many shades of dance music. At the time no one fused genres like break-beats and house together, but that all changed with Phil K.

Even though it’s with great sadness that we share the news of Phil passing, the joy and the music he gave us will remain forever. 

As a tribute to the great man, we offer you Phil’s incredible Balance Series compilation album number 4 in its full glory.

Nuno and I covered a lot of ground in those unforgettable morning hours, playing for about 2,5 hours to the most amazing crowd. A lot of love, happiness and hedonistic behaviour going on and as the hours progressed it just got better and better. Sleeping before going out at around 9 in the morning is definitely the way forward. Daytime parties agree with my biological clock...no hangover whatsoever :-)
