Stavros Potamitis (Stevie R) evoca emociones y teje cuentos sónicos combinando la música popular Rebetiko de su tierra natal griega con la electrónica analógica. Además de ser músico, productor e intérprete, Stavros es ingeniero de sonido y profesor en Point Blank Music College en Londres. 

Nacido y criado en Chipre, Constantinos Parisinos (Parisinos) se mudó al Reino Unido a principios de los 2000. Un coleccionista obsesivo de oscuras gemas melódicas con una atracción inherente por secuencias repetitivas y ritmos hipnóticos más lentos; un entusiasta de lo poco convencional y un apasionado creyente en el poder de una cultura techno underground verdaderamente diversa.

Aparte de una amistad de hermanos, Stevie R & Parisinos han formado una formidable asociación sonora. Ya han colaborado con artistas líderes y pioneros en la música electrónica como Lena Platonos, Tolouse low Trax, Khidja, MR TC, Zombies in Miami, Man Power, Simple Symmetry. Han lanzado música para sellos como ME ME ME Recordings, Playground Records, Lagasta y el sello Inside Out Records. We are proud to present the nineteenth instalment of our Disco Suicide mix series by UK-based Stevie R (@stevie-r) & Parisinos (@Parisinos)!

Stavros Potamitis (aka Stevie R) conjures emotion and weaves sonic tales by combining the rebetiko folk music of his Greek homeland with analogue electronics. Working with a range of collaborators he offers forward thinking, avant-garde music and daring, theatrical live performances that freely blend and cross over between musical styles. As well as being a musician, producer and performer, Stevie is a lecturer at Point Blank Music College in London, runs his own record label Inside Out Records and is A & R of Chapter 24 Records. Always looking to push musical and sonic boundaries, he is just as relentlessly focused on moving things forward in his own work as he is committed to supporting the next generations to break through.

Born and raised in Nicosia, Cyprus, Constantinos Parisinos moved to the UK in early 00’s to study medicine. Electronic music quickly formed a gateway of expression. An obsessive collector of obscure melodic gems with an inherent attraction for repetitive sequences and slower, hypnotic rhythms; an enthusiast for the unconventional and the diverse underground music culture. 

Apart from his solo endeavours, Parisinos has formed a formidable sonic partnership with Stavros Potamitis (Stevie R). With a focus on blending Greek folk music (Rembetiko), mesmerising vocals and middle eastern scales with slower rhythms, acid lines and powerful percussion, their distinct sound captivates and hypnotises dancefloors. Together, they also release more experimental music under their more enigmatic alias After Altamont. Stavros Potamitis and Constantinos Parisinos are also harnessing their vision of electronic music through their label Inside Out Records. Aims for next year include a new live act and album.

Apart from a brother-like friendship, Stevie R & Parisinos have formed a formidable sonic partnership. They have already collaborated with leading artists and pioneers in electronic music including Lena Platonos, Tolouse low Trax, Khidja, MR TC, Zombies in Miami, Man Power, Simple Symmetry, Echonomist, Bawrut. They have released music for labels including ME ME ME Recordings, Playground Records, Hard Fist, Lagasta, Rotten City, Sinchi Collective, Nein Records and on their own imprint Inside Out Records. They have featured in most media sites and underground blogs including Stamp the Wax, Ransom Note, Lagasta, DJ Mag, Mix Mag. They had also run a monthly residency on the Georgian experimental music station Mutant Radio in 2020-2021. Their music has been supported by taste makers including Lena Willikens, Vladimir Ivkovic, Red Axes, Jennifer Cardini and many more. They have performed in many venues across London (including Fabric, Shacklewell arms, Electric Brixton, XOYO, Boat Live, Pickle Factory), whilst also performing in international events and venues such as ADE Amsterdam and Sisyphos.

Together, Stevie R & Parisinos also release more experimental music and live performance projects under their more enigmatic alias After Altamont. Stavros Potamitis and Constantinos Parisinos are also harnessing their vision of electronic music through their “rising star” underground label Inside Out Records.

Telling Tales 003 is no different: taking the listener on a journey from drama and torment to suspense, settlement and newfound resolve, Soul Button invites us to step into his world and live the story with him, every step of the way. 

A true author of stories in sound, Soul Button is the ideal choice to headline our label launch, Gather Round, at The Star of Kings in London on December 20th, alongside a cast of talented Chapter 24 artists.

For our first Gather Round, we are pleased to say that we will be donating all our profits from ticket sales to Single Homeless Project (SHP), a charity for homeless and vulnerable people in London.

"This mix is a selection of mostly my own work, including some unreleased sketches and ideas which might become future album tracks, some recent tracks from my new compilation Cosmology, music from forthcoming releases and a couple of older tracks that went relatively under the radar. I also included a beat-less version of "The Lake" from my last EP Torchlight vol.1 which I personally enjoy listening to more than the original.

It is difficult to speak too much about my own work because I believe we are all transceivers of information, and therefore my thoughts on the music won't be the same as yours so why preach about it? The best way I could describe the mix is to say it is threading a line from past to future via the present, and stylistically somewhat skewed to what you might consider "typical" of my stuff...perhaps.

Stylistically I hope to have brought the more etheric side of my work to the forefront for this selection, making it, I hope a good repeated listen. I think the best mixes take their time and fill a space around other tasks rather than demanding your entire concentration for an hour or more.

Solid Steel in association with Serato (6th May) Phaeleh is our guest in Hour 1 this week, following the release of his EP 'All that remains' last month. The Bristol based producer has been releasing music since 2008, but pretty silent for the last couple of years working on his next album. His mix features music from Arkist, John Tejada, Afriqua, Roska, DMX Krew, DieMantle and Boards of Canada and you can catch him playing this weekend when he curates a room at Fabric on May 6th involving the likes of Om Unit, D-Bridge and Djrum, whilst The Bug, Pinch and Loefah take care of the room next door. He told us;
"This is the DJ set I'd play for myself, at my own house party, without my name on a flyer. I've chosen tracks from various eras and genres so you can get a insight of what I'm into. Please listen with a Gin & Tonic or Mojito."

Our next Telling Tales mix comes from Athens-born, London-based artist Stavros Potamitis, aka Stevie R, whose Jalemba EP with Delfin will be released on Chapter 24 next month. 

Running his own label Inside Out Records, launching his band project After Altamont, working as a sound designer for Cr2 Records and Sample Magic, and releasing on the likes of OFF Recordings, Motek and Steyoyoke has kept Stavros very busy in the studio. 

Perhaps one of the most underrated producers in the scene, he is also an accomplished DJ and live performer with plenty of significant local and international shows over the past decade. 

With a couple of releases already out on Chapter 24, including his hugely popular unofficial bootleg of RY X's Only, we are delighted to welcome Stevie R back to Chapter 24 to continue his story.

Now based in Copenhagen, Norwegian artist Djuma Soundsystem was catapulted into the public's consciousness over a decade ago with his club classic 'Les Djinns' on Get Physical Music. 

Djuma's organic, sample-heavy signature sound is on show in this Teling Tales via his collaboration with Westerby on ‘Disambigua’, the pair's much-anticipated follow up to smash hit ‘Koma Kobache’ (Get Physical).

Talented duo Techník (pronounced "technique") have gained a reputation for delivering sets that take you on a journey. With their love of ethereal sounds, the London-based duo have labelled their style "desert music". 

During their sets, they aim to create an experience that not only puts a smile on those around them, but also stirs emotion; music that really touches people on another level. 

Their sound has seen them play at some of the world's most iconic venues including Amnesia Ibiza, Café Mambo, Ministry of Sound and XOYO, as well as supporting Jonas Rathsman during his recent Elements tour and Fritz Kalkbrenner in London.

Techník are co-founders of Everything Will Be OK (EWBO), a brand that prides itself in discovering new music from all corners of the world, as well as hosting parties filled with magical decor and deep, hypnotic music. In a short space of time, EWBO has seen a remarkable rise in London's clubbing scene and with exciting plans in the works for the rest of 2018, it looks like it's going to be a busy year for this pair! 

We invited Techník to put together a special two-hour contribution to our Telling Tales mix series, as they wanted their story to represent their love for hypnotic sounds, music that makes you move and think, with ethnic influences from all over the world. We hope you enjoy the journey!

Our latest Telling Tales mix comes from Athenian artist Thodoris Triantafillou, whose brand new 'Species EP' has just landed: smarturl.it/CH033

Hailing from the Greek capital, Thodoris has excelled in all corners of the electronic music industry after devoting his life and career to a creative output that reflects a fusion of influences from across the musical sphere. He makes music without sticking to one sound, enjoying the culture of clubbing and coming from an eclectic background of spinning hip-hop, soul, funk, RnB and breaks, as reflected in his mix.

Thodoris believes that "the quality, character, and distribution of the ensemble is what makes the difference and not the kind of music we play". With this concept in mind, he aims to create an atmosphere to entertain a crowd, wherever they are found. Keeping up with the unrelenting yet satisfying pace of musical evolution, Thodoris also looks to the horizon, feeling as inspired by the beautiful scene as he was on day one.

Recognised by peers and fans through a stream of compelling releases on labels such as Connaisseur and Objektivity, it’s the combination of the philosophy behind a record, the raw energy offered by electronic formats, and an exploration of the inner self that makes Thodoris’s sound stand out amongst the rest.

Our latest Telling Tales mix comes from Berlin-based artist Aaaron, whose brand new 'Shadows' EP has just landed: smarturl.it/CH035

Aaaron's intention with this mix, as with his own productions, is for the music to give the listener a sense of grounding, to help them to reconnect with themselves and with nature.  In his own words, "listening to the mix should feel like sitting on the ground at the end of a hot summer's day, when the earth starts to give back the energy it has stored up from the sun."
