I am chuffed to present my monthly residency on @universalrhythms.radio starting today 7PM UK / 8PM UK alongside loads of great DJs from all over the globe. I feel super inspired as I am basically constantly mixing records at the moment and when I listen back to my mixes I am like: that’s right, that’s exactly what I was trying to do. Congrats Marcel, you are a DJ. Eventually I ll write an essay or a book or a documentary, I have so many thoughts and emotions surrounding that topic. When I mentioned to people that I wanted to do a tribute mix to Deep Sensation, I got a few quizzical looks. As I as slowly started naming a few tracks, there was a certain sense of recognition. “Oh yeah…I think I have a few of their records of theirs…but did they release enough for a full mix?”. 

There are no secrets why the Scottish production team consisting of Paul Hunter and Colin Gate remains so anonymous. There are no real information online and no press available. No bio, no fancy press photo. The most I was able to find was a text put together by a promoter on a flyer in New Zealand in the 90s. We know that Paul was a Hip Hop guy and Colin an ex-Northern Soul DJ and that they came together through a mutual deep admiration for funk, soul & disco.

We are over the moon to bring you our next mix by Delfonic! Markus started his DJ career in 2004 around Berlin before reaching out across Germany and beyond. As a founder of OYE Records, he played a vital role providing Berlin DJs with new music. In 2019 he left OYE after 15 years and started to work as A&R / Label manager for Wordandsound / Whatpeopleplay.

With a history in digging and an unquestionable love for music, Markus Lindner is a DJ as versatile as they come. He applies his broad knowledge of music styles to almost any setting, and is renowned for blending multiple genres, eras and disciplines throughout his sets. An open-minded talent, with an uncompromising approach to DJing, he employs a style schooled from an upbringing in hip-hop but with an open minded music taste including grooves from Jazz, Disco, House, Breaks and Afro.

As a champion of new music and sounds, Delfonic has been setting new trends within today’s modern music scene. He’s the man behind the labels OYE Black Label, OYE Edits and Money $ex Records, and is responsible for bringing some of today’s contemporary talent into the
limelight, including Max Graef, Glenn Astro, Alex Seidel and more. A mainstay at cult Berlin venue ICON from 2006 until its demise in 2011, Delfonic now holds down residencies at Paloma Bar and Club Gretchen while frequenting the capital’s leading venues like Salon zur wilden
Renate, Heideglühen, Toy Tonic Jams etc.

2 hour impromotu session, starting soulful with YAW Where would you be?, easing further with some Peter Green gem from 1981 'Gotta See Her Tonight' lamenting a recent heartbreak. Not much further we land at what we could call pitched down house and withi a few records we actually starting to dance in here. Pirahnaheads legendary Inner Turmoil gets a play and eventually we land in afro - boogie - disco land , work out for a moment and come back to mother earth. Enjoy the ride!
