When I was doing the club Pure in Edinburgh in the 1990s, the other big night in the same venue was Tribal Funktion whose main (and fab) DJ was George T. We stayed in touch over the years. A few years ago I did a remix for him and now I'm delighted to be releasing some of his music, made along with Quinn who I also know from playing numerous gigs on the same bill as his wonderful act, Paranoid London. The stars truly aligned on this one. I'll let George tell you a bit more....


"Quinn & I first met in London around 97/98, raving both sides of the river, releasing the occasional banger and generally larking about. By the time his Different Gear Police bootleg with Gino Scaletti became a huge hit we lost touch, became parents, moved on. 

15 years later (it’s 2015) and realising that the guy in Paranoid London looked suspiciously like Quinn, we met up. First for beer and stories then for bass and echo. It wasn’t long before we started trying things out in the studio. Creating drones with guitar pedals, imaginary soundtracks with noisy old Bontempi organs. Things began to have a particular sonic shape, but we had other fish to fry. Quinn always had countless projects on and I was immersed in Greco-Roman’s Jeanga and George, so we were often busy, only meeting up in fits and starts every couple of months.

By 2019 though, without realising or intending anything in particular, we had quite a body of work. What to do? Knowing Keith from Pure in Edinburgh back in the day it almost seemed a no brainier. We love Optimo. Let’s send it to Keith.

We did, and then lockdown numero uno began. We’re now halfway through 2021 and very happy to finally share three pieces of music with you. An introduction if you will to the upside down, not quite this or that world of Quinn and I. We hope you love it too”.

Optimo Music Digital Danceforce 038 - George T and Johnny Aux - Making Excuses For You EP

Following hot on the heels of his recent mini-album for Elephant Gait, Italian producer Joseph Tagliabue is back with a full-length album for Invisible, Inc.

With Un' Altra Forma Di Vibrazioni Tagliabue continues to expand on the cosmic foundations laid by such pioneering experimental forefathers as Franco Battiato whose ground-breaking ambient, abstract experiments made waves in the '70s, Klaus Schulze whose legendary Innovative Communications label birthed the “Berlin school” sound in the early '80s, then tracing a path toward later luminaries like Boards of Canada and Plaid. There's a very personal, emotive, even ethereal quality also present here conjuring feelings of 4AD's glory years and the likes of This Mortal Coil and Dead Can Dance.

However, backwards-looking music this is not. It's fair to say the Milan-based producer is developing his very own distinct sound as he matures from one release to the next and regardless of his wide range of influences, it's his firm grasp of sound design and current developments in audio engineering that takes this album far beyond the realm of just “electronica” or “psychedelia” and plants it firmly into a distinctly forward-looking contemporary space of its very own, that's as much music for the heart as it is music for the head. 

It's this emotive quality that makes the album feel like a departure in sound from what the label has been doing until now so it seemed appropriate to create a sub-series for this release - and thus Black Inc. was born.

Tagliabue provides some insight into the release's creation: “Un' Altra Forma Di Vibrazioni (meaning Another Form Of Vibration in Italian) is a concept album inspired by one of the most sensational scientific discoveries of recent years, namely evidence of the existence of the "Cosmic Web". The album is comprised of ten tracks, each linked to one another, much like the various forms of matter in the cosmic web, and whose meaning can only be understood by listening to them as a collective whole: the album therefore is a well constructed sonic experience fusing elements of ambient, psych, rock, experimental and trance. Designed to be listened to continuously from start to finish, the album's journey through the universal elements is reflected in each track, whose rhythms resonate in harmony with the phenomena they represent, whilst a backdrop of drones and mesmeric grooves contribute to an atmosphere of otherworldly mechanical oneirism."

Something unexpected is coming your way - our family member Serial Experiments has teamed up with one of the producers of the year (or five years in a row at least?) Tolouse Low Trax, and the outcome is this weird number, coming out September 15th on both vinyl and digital. Compiled by DJ Sofa, "Elsewhere MCMXIII" on Debruit's label ICI is one of those releases that, without any doubt, will be played everywhere!

She likes dogs, Jacuzzis, riding a bike, , bålkos, å få napp, her own oceans of emotions, hummus, Rhabarbersaftschorle, free WiFi, Mezcal, dark days and dark nights, talking fast, dancing slow, serious shit, funny shit, singing, getting dirty, staying away, getting close, going hard, being active, being passive, being together, being there, getting it all.

A DJ, a producer, and a positive thinker, she spent the last years exploring music, people, life and places. 

From her home town Tromsø, where she ran her own clubseries, actively shaped the Insomnia Festival, and released two records on Mental Overdrive’s Love OD label, to Cologne, where she cooperated with artists like Coma, Lena Willikens, and developed a long lasting mutual love affair with the Salon des Amateurs. She has been traveling ever since and played, danced, loved, and laughed her way around the globe-  from Buenos Aires’ infamous Dengue Dancing Parties, to festival sites in Hanoi, Montevideo, Marseille, and Berlin.

Playful and silly, and therefore confident and sexy, whether as a Dj or playing live, her music is deep, dark, and psychedelic.

In May 2017, she released “Hidden Tracks” on Comeme,  and in the autumn, there will follow remixes for Islaja on Monica Enterprises and for Sex Judas on Cymawax. 

She’ll keep busy throughout the rest of the year, with live and DJ appearances on clubs and festivals all across Europe, and a bunch of mixes in the pipeline– still making time for retreating to the silence of the North, for mental and physical rejuvenation.
