I remember my Pops and Step-mom did the ole "dial the hidden cell phone in the wrapped-up box" one Christmas. It was the very first flip phone...that GIANT Motorola grey brick that took two hands to hold up to your ear. The look on their faces when I opened it was one of my favorite gift-receiving moments ever. I maybe made 5 or 6 calls on it, but I've used it innumerable times as a prop. 

This here edit/bootleg is of "Name & Number" by Curiosity Killed The Cat...with the familiar refrain "Hey, how ya dooooin..." that was the basis of De La Soul's JAM, "Ring, Ring, Ring (Ha Ha Hey)". Add in some Chromeo, Biggie and Consequence and we've got ourselves a fine mess of references to phones and answering machines (the hell are THOSE?!).
