It's been almost 1 full year since we last spoke of anything new dropping on the label and it's been months since we last posted anything at all on social media.

Things have changed since then.

Through logo designing sessions, branding brainstorm sessions, and a lot of feedback; growing to find the true reason why Kolossus exist has drastically changed from when we first started.

Kolossus doesn't just mean big. It stands for unity, empowerment, thoughts, ideas, emotion, knowledge, growth and so much more.

The idea to create one big culture comes from the idea to unify all walks of life. To show people's art through a platform that wants to inspire growth, change, knowledge, and perspective.

We weren't doing that before.

Today begins the movement towards a brighter future. A future where inspiration comes from perspective and knowledge is shared through creativity.

Kolossus Kulture Magazine and Kolossus Record's new look and feel seeks to bring people together through their work. Work that's powerful enough to spark conversation, thoughts, ideas, and passion for changing the things around you.

Kolossus no longer seeks to publicize things that are JUST dope, cool, or interesting.

Kolossus is about unification through powerful perspectives on all levels.

This is why Kolossus exist and this is why it will continue to.

28TH is a Future Beats, Trap, R&B, and Jazz influenced artist out of London. He's been a part of the Kolossus team for 3 years now, and his production has been fascinating to watch grow. Freestyle Fellowship and Project Blowed alumni Self Jupiter is back this year with the new single "Layers," launching on the imprint that he co-founded, The Order Label. Around cultivating a platform for artists such as Milo, Busdriver, and Jonwayne to start their own labels, Self Jupiter has kept the torch lit for the Fellowship since the early '90s, releasing forward thinking music that touches every spectrum of hip-hop. 

"Layers" is an examination on life that goes inward, putting a perspective on the constructed nature of the human psyche and how each layer of that evolutionary experience defines a person. This is one of the most reflection based songs from the Freestyle Fellowship wordsmith, allowing listeners a glimpse into Self Jupiter's soul that's unlike anything he's done before. Connecting dots as universal as self-respect and prolonged determination through adversity, "Layers" is a track for every person to absorb and live life through. 

Production for "Layers" was put together by Burnin Giraph, with the Jefferson Park Boys trio (Mr. Carmack, Kenny Segal, Mike Parvizi) adding their touches on the mixing and co-production side. Kenny Segal also offered his artistic abilities on the creation of the single art, presenting an original painting to coincide with the theme of the music. Recordings took place at the Los Angeles studio Cosmic Zoo, with renowned engineer Daddy Kev taking on final mastering. "Layers" is the second offering from Self Jupiter's next full-length album, following this years maxi-single "Lemongrass." Main, instrumental, and a cappella versions of "Layers" are included on the 7" lathe cut and digital versions.
