By way of NYC, Berlin and before that Moscow, vinyl only techno DJ, producer and record label owner Mary Yuzovskaya has been cultivating her unique orbit in the electronic dance music firmament for over 14 years.

Having graced the decks of all Moscow’s hotspots back in the mid-2000s, Mary moved to Berlin, where she became recognised for both her blisteringly-precise vinyl-only techno sets and her painstakingly professional approach to the craft of DJing. After relocating to NYC in 2013 Mary quickly became a key figure in the US scene, performing regularly at different venues including multiple residencies at some of the city’s institutional parties like Unter, where she was a staple for three years, as well as working as a vinyl distribution manager at renowned Brooklyn-based record shop Halcyon. 

Back in Berlin since 2020, Mary solely runs her very own record label called Monday Off ( @monday-off ), launched in 2017, where she curates and presses work from artists that explore techno's trippier, more hypnotic side. Maintaining the connection with North America, she currently holds a residency at Public Records club in Brooklyn.

Mary has been busily traveling the world and performing her unique take on techno music’s deeper vibes at many noted clubs and parties across the world, including ://about blank, Basement, Compound (LA), Distillery (Leipzig), OHM, Output (Brooklyn), Propaganda (Moscow), and Tresor, to name only a few.

Völlig losgelöst

Ich sitze tiefenentspannt auf der Terrasse und lasse mich von der Sonne verwöhnen. Eine sanfte Brise umspielt meine Haare und kühlt meine nackte Haut. Die Vögel in Bäumen zwitschern ungehemmt ihre Triolen und verbreiten eine angenehm, heitere Stimmung. 
Die Anspannung der letzten Tage fällt tröpfelnd von mir wie das Wasser nach einer Dusche. Mich beschäftigen weder Sorgen noch Probleme. Ich fühle mich fit und in der Lage Berge zu versetzen. Hier geht es mir rundum gut. 
Der Frühling ist da und der Sommer streckt bereits seine Fühler aus. Heute Abend wird gegrillt und der Gedanke an saftige Salate, geröstetes Brot und würzige Bratwurst, lässt mir das Wasser im Mund zusammen laufen. 
Das Leben erscheint unbeschwert und lebenswert. Nichts und niemand vermag meine Fassung zu trüben. Ich freue mich auf die kommende Zeit und genieße jeden Augenblick. Ich bin dankbar für alles und lehne mich entspannt zurück. 

Der Berliner Urem betätigt sich seit geraumer Zeit als DJ & Produzent der elektronischen Musik. Im Rahmen seiner kreativen Tätigkeit bespielte er bereits eine Vielzahl angesagter und bekannter Etablissements. Zu seiner Historie zählen Auftritte im Birgit & Bier, dem Ritter Butzke oder auch dem Kater Blau. Ebenfalls machte Urem dem Kiez Burn Festival und Artlake seine Aufwartung. 
Sein progessiv, dark melodischer Sound findet sich auch in dem KataHaifisch Podcast 199 wieder. Atmosphärische Synths kombiniert mit tribalistischen Percussions erzeugen eine unverwechselbar mächtige und zugleich melancholische Stimmung. Die sauber gemischten und gut produzierten Tracks sind sowohl für die heimischen vier Wände, als auch für den Club bestens geeignet.

This perception beyond the “all or nothing” is what connected Ana Bogatinovska and Jovana Gjorgievska. At first strangers, the two met at a music festival in their beautiful native country of Macedonia. After a long discussion about musical matters, they decided to collaborate on a project to connect their somewhat different, but similar taste in electronic music.

Since then, their melancholic, delicate and hypnotic sounds use 'binary thinking' as a motor to press on forward to a third term of a higher category that represents a transcending reconciliation or unity: Where thesis and antithesis are always harnessed to yield a synthesis. Where seemingly opposite or contrary forces turn out to actually be complementary.

With endlessly evolving soundscapes of infinite spirals, pulsating bassline-heaviness and unforeseeable twists Binary Thoughts are turning this 5th edition of ‘Circulating Waves’ into an unforgettable session of deep hypnosis!

우리의 조상들의 사고방식은 언제나 '이항' 이었다. 모든 복잡함 속에서 현실을 이해하기 위해 우리는 대립합을 만들었다. "전부 혹은 무 (無)" 의 이항대립적 법칙이 지배하는 곳에는 중간이 없다. 그러나 현실은 실제로 항상 우리의 '감각' 이 시사하는 것보다 더 복잡하고 풍부하다.

이 "전부 혹은 무 (無)" 를 넘어선 이러한 인식은 Ana Bogatinovska 와 Jovana Gjorgievska 를 연결시켰다. 서로 처음 알게 된 이들은 그들 모국의 음악 축제에서 만났다. 그리고 전자 음악에 대한 오랜 논의 끝에, 그들은 약간 다르지만 비슷한 전자 음악의 취향을 연결할 프로젝트를 만들기로 결정했다.

...and the waves are circling again...

This time, Charybdis label co-founder and longtime techno lover Vittjas Tief will guide you through the swirling waters of the vortex.
He began his journey as a DJ back in 1994, came to Berlin in ‘98 and started playing at various clubs. After settling he ran his very own party series “Kurzurlaub'’ from 2006 until 2014. That time shaped his unique sound, which got popular throughout the scene very fast. Fighting for a good cause he also enjoys playing for solidarity raves and acts as a co-organizer of the popular night ‘about:marionism' at ://about blank.
He has been very present on the dancefloors in Berlin and beyond for years and is well known in the underground for his deeply hypnotic and mesmerizing sets. Towards the end of 2020, Vittjas Tief took a chance and joined up with his musical partner Kindred to bring Charybdis and a new vision of Hypnotic Techno to life. 

This vision is unfolding in multilayered rhythms, mystical soundscapes, gurgling tones, flying drones and endless patterns, always trusting in the inescapable power of hypnotic repetition, transporting you into unknown dimensions... 
 
As Vittjas Tief himself once said: Trance is a state, not an insult!
