This is the solo violin cue for the entrance of the character Lammer in Donald Sales' dance piece "The Ugly Duckling" which premiered in the summer of 2013 at the legendary Banff Center in Canada.

The piece is written in a faux-baroque style. We wanted something with authoriy and wit that could keep changing with the movements... Lammer is a bad motherfucker, so we knew that going loud and dissonant would be overkill. Instead we wanted something dignified that signaled someone who isn't just "evil" but who also is intelligent. A manipulative seducer.
