I am an amateur multi-instrumentalist with a passion for playing Irish Traditional Music on anything with strings (mandolin, guitar, banjo, fiddle, octave mandolin, mandola).  I also enjoy performing folk and old time music.  I created this page mainly as a way of sharing tunes with people interested in learning to play Irish Trad.  I play all tracks here in a way that I hope makes them accessible.  I play them musically, but simply, avoiding a lot of the repetition, ornamentation, or variation I might use if performing them publicly.  
I include here 50 common session tunes played on mando.  These tracks, broken down into three playlists, are intended to help anyone new to Irish Trad to pick up some popular tunes to enjoy playing at home, or better yet, at a session.  I also have lists for Irish banjo, Celtic guitar, O'Carolan tunes, and selected mando tracks of tunes people have especially liked.
 
For those interested in knowing what instruments I use:  
Guitar tracks are recorded with a Martin D-28 Custom (1984),  a Larrivee OM-02 (2019), a Larrivee D-50 (2003), a Kalamazoo (Gibson) tenor (1936), or an Eastman AC 320 B (2007).
Banjo tracks are recorded with an Epiphone Recording A (1928) or a Bacon and Day Silver Bell No. 1 (1927).
Mando tracks are recorded with a Gibson A-1 (1916), a Collings MT (2011), a Collings MT2 (2019), or an Eastman 605 (2009). 
Octave mandolin tunes are recorded with a Petersen Level 1 (2012).
Mandola tunes are recorded with a Eugene Howard mandola (1890s).
I use a Zoom H2n, and edit tracks using Audacity (cuts, fade outs, noise removal, amplification, compression, equalization).

Brian Boland is a producer/engineer with twenty years of studio experience behind him.  Starting out at William Paterson College, he learned the art of recording from exceptional teachers including Bob Both (James Brown).  After college, he was lucky enough to start his career at the legendary Greene Street Recording NYC (Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Pete Rock, Dave Matthews, George Benson, Beastie Boys…)  His band Elwood, was signed to Palm Pictures in 2000 by Chris Blackwell and had success with their cover of "Sundown" by Gordon Lightfoot reaching the Billboard charts. During all of this, Brian was also in Philly constantly working with Jim Hamilton on records including Global Illage, Jazzheads, Mothers Favorite Child, and countless others.  In 2004, Brian moved to Los Angeles and began freelancing, working and playing bass with Shadow Rewind, Baby Stone (Sly Stone's daughter), Dave Krusen (Pearl Jam), and many others.  He also worked at Windmark Recording in Santa Monica, (formerly Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis' Flight Tyme) where he was able to work on many major label writing camps engineering,and assisting some of the worlds top artists and producers in the urban world, including Timbaland, Macy Gray, Rihanna, Y.G., Mary J. Blige, DJ Mustard, Big Krit, Sha Money XL and many more.  
Brian Currently works as a Course Director for The Los Angeles Film School's Music Production division in Orlando, and is still making records!!!

Award Winning Composer Don Bodin specializes in composing and producing original score and song for documentaries, motion picture, television, video game and advertising campaigns. 

Don Bodin Music has delivered over 100 tracks for advertising clients, scored the music for the 2014 UNITY Award Winner "Art & Skin" and has contributed music to  of dozens of indy films, TV shows and documentaries. 

In November of 2013 Bodin was honored with the Hollywood Music in Media Award for ‘Best Score for a Commercial Advertisement’ for his work on the Toyota of Europe spot "RAV4 Safety".

The shado rewind project has ended.
