Where do two contented faces arrive from on Noordeinde Street? Of course, from the doors of the vinyl store that has just filled their tote bag with savoury releases. Get to know them! These are Needle and Plate, native Europeans, record collectors and just friends for whom hanging out and communicating with members of the creative movement is sheer bliss.

Once the conversation heads to genres and tastes, everything else ceases to exist. And it doesn't matter what the weather is outside: the main thing is that the music doesn't stop playing. Yet, there is no better reason for a walk than a sunny day and a bottle of craft beer. This is the opinion of those who disappear for days in search of a sound close in spirit, such that it will tell about the inner self more accurately than any words. The real chase for chippies starts now!

What will always be fashionable? Probably travelling, good food, and… a thermometer. Yes, an ordinary thermometer! When it becomes your main accessory for a few days, romantic dates under the Pyrenean sky are out of the question. Not even romance can help here — but fever medicine can. Luckily, taking care of a loved one is much easier than doing nothing.

— I feel awful… completely destroyed, and my throat — it’s like sandpaper!
— Hang in there, love. You’ll feel better soon.
— I told you we should’ve stayed in Amsterdam. Getting sick at the start of the tour sucks.
— Do you think a hot coffee and a croissant might make things a little better?
— Yay! Oh… right. I’m sick. Cough, cough.

Sharpening his sense of smell, Plate set off in search of something delicious. Pastry shops shimmered invitingly with their glass displays until one finally captivated him with its sheer abundance. “Bonjour, monsieur!” — a cheerful voice chirped from behind the counter. Care for every detail was in the air as a perfect reminder that even in the most unexpected moments you can brighten someone’s day.

Ada Kaleh is one of the most respected Romanian artists, with a reputation for creating timeless cuts that never leave a DJs record bag. Ada’s creative spark leaves much to the imagination of the listener. Each track comes with a story, with the tracks following on in a fluid movement.

A-side ‘Nedeslusit in amurg’ is characterised by its atmospheric vibe and distant vocals. The track is inspired by the whirling dance of the Sufi dervishes. The dervishes walk the desert for hours, maybe days. As the sun sets, in its twilight (“Amurg in Romanian”), a women holding a blue pot of water unfolds… 

B-side ‘Morgana avidoma’ is as memorable as the story behind it. A creative combination of fluid, driving basslines combines with snappy claps and extra-terrestrial synths. ‘Morgana‘ represents the women, always in the distance, always ‘nedeslusit’, yet always there, in front of your eyes, “avidoma”. She is indeed there, but only for us to see. 

What this EP represents is a snippet into the brain of Ada Kaleh. The hypnotic feel of the tracks mirror his memorising DJ and live sets. His music is as much a visual experience as an audio experience. It’s designed to make you dance but also to leave an impression…

Chippy Chasers is an illustrated electronic label and record store from The Hague, promoting a wide range of house sounds. Founded in 2023, the project blends music, storytelling, and visual identity into one continuous experience.

The stories unfold in the present — through the lives of Needle and Plate, two friends who simply can’t imagine life without music. Female selectivity and male determination take them across Europe’s nightclubs, record shops, and creative spaces — all in search of that perfect moment the dance genre has to offer.
