When Anna and I fixed up the paddock last year, we had to tear down old fences and put up new. That involved pulling a lot of long nails out of wood. I just had to record that, and hear is a tight collection of the best nail howls; the essence of those sounds that make some shiver and hide, but which put me in a very good, compositional mood - yes, the final extract of a fine day at the paddock!

Here, Dionisaf reflects on the mystery of life and death by contrasting nature and human civilization, naturalness and mechanicalness.

Dionisaf, aka Dionis Afonichev, is an American composer, ambient producer, multi-instrumentalist, and sound hunter. In his music, Dionisaf combines modular and granular synthesizers, electric guitar, field recordings and non-musical sounds and noises, which take on the quality of musicality in combination with other elements of the composition.

Condensed Time

With ‘No Further Than the Present’ it was Adrian’s intention to take the music further into the realm of ambient music than he had explored before. In this album the synthesizer is more prominent, including the use of the 1978 Jen Synthetone SX1000 which he has had since he was 16 years old. However, each piece also has strong neo-classical elements with melancholic contrapuntal strings appearing in most tracks.

Adrian Lane produces quiet, intimate neo-classical music that explores sounds from acoustic sources, mixed with electronic but organic sounding ones. The music feels acoustic, and employs a combination of age-old instruments (piano, violin, alto and baritone bowed psalteries, acoustic guitar, banjo, zither, glockenspiel) mixed with synthesizers and virtual instruments and constructed in a way that could only be achieved with modern technology. Adrian likes to tread the line between the real and the synthetic so that it is difficult for the listener to discern which is which.

Adrian Lane has released 10 albums to date, on the labels; Whitelabrecs, Hibernate Recordings and Preserved Sound, and each album focuses on a different palette of sounds. Some albums are largely piano based, and others focusing more on stringed instruments.

[FR] J'ai écrit/composé ce morceau pour m'entrainer à la composition de musique orchestral de films et aux musiques d'ambiances. Le but, à terme étant de trouver des personnes qui souhaiteraient que je compose pour leurs projets.

[EN] I wrote this piece to practicing the filmic orchestral music. The purpose is about to find people who wishes that I write and compose music for their projects.
