The Chaos Era (TCE) is a virtual, asynchronous collaboration of solo artists that come together to invent and produce a project together. Remote file sharing and mixing are the norm. This a band of strangers who capture a theme and share a journey. TCE is led by mythologist Willi Paul and driven by his permaculture-inspired portal Planetshifter.com.

Carl Schimmel is a composer based in Iowa and Illinois.  Praised by The New York Times as “vivid and dramatic,” his recent music is dense with literary and musical references, often humorous, and combines intensity of expression with a structural rigor which is influenced in part by his mathematics background.  In weaving his musical narratives from poetry, art, and even unusual words, he strives to construct emotional and culturally complex sound worlds that excite the listener’s imagination.

Winner of a 2018 Guggenheim Fellowship, Columbia University’s Joseph Bearns Prize, the Lee Ettelson Award, and the 2017 Goddard Lieberson Fellowship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Schimmel has received honors and awards from many organizations, including the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Copland House, New Music USA, and ASCAP.  His works have been performed in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall, Merkin Hall in New York, Severance Hall in Cleveland, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London, Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, and at other venues throughout North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.  He has received performances and commissions from the American Composers Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, California EAR Unit, the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, Alarm Will Sound, North/South Consonance, Quintet Attacca, the Mexico City Woodwind Quintet, and many others.  A graduate of Duke University (Ph.D.), the Yale School of Music (M.M.), and Case Western Reserve University (B.A. Mathematics and Music), he is Associate Professor of Music Theory and Composition at Illinois State University in Normal, IL.

Gary Powell Nash, a native of Flint, Michigan is Professor of Music at Fisk University in Nashville, TN where he teaches and coordinates courses in music theory, technology, composition, applied woodwinds and conducts the Fisk Jazz Ensemble.   	Nash holds a Ph.D. in Music Composition from Michigan State University.  His former teachers include Jacob Druckman, Jere Hutcheson, Bernard Rands, Charles Ruggiero, Mark Sullivan, George Tsontakis and Ramon Zupko.  As a composer of Western classical music, Nash has written musical works for orchestra, band/wind ensemble, choir, art songs (four in Chinese), electroacoustic works and instrumental chamber compositions, including two short film scores.  His music has been performed in all major regions of the United States and abroad on the continents of Asia and Europe.
	Nash has received numerous grants, commissions and awards for his compositions including Vanderbilt University Wind Symphony to compose On the Battlefield, With Certainty (2021) commemorating the opening of the National Museum of African American Music. Others include Southern Grandparents (2017) soprano, tenor and piano trio, commissioned by Delta State University for the Mississippi Bicentennial Celebration in 2017, 2007 UNCF/Mellon Foundation Faculty Seminar in Ghana, Tennessee Music Teachers Association Composer of the Year, 2005-6, Mississippi Arts Commission, American Composers Forum, Carnegie Hall and Fulbright, where he was Visiting Professor of Music Composition at University of the Philippines-Diliman, May 30, 2000 - March 28, 2001.  Nash’s scores are published by Art of Sound Music, MusicaNeo and Tuba/Euphonium Press.  11 of his compositions are featured on compact disc with five of those appearing on Albany, Centaur and Citadel Records labels.
