Sad Eyes

I was desperate to be in a band when I was young, but just didn't seem to meet the right people. I was also very self-conscious of my failings as a musician.  And I certainly wasn't much of a singer.  So to satisfy my creative drive I did the next best thing and wrote songs.  This is also what led me, ultimately, to write books (for anyone visiting this page who doesn't already know the name, I'm a children's author best known for a series of books called The Last Dragon Chronicles). I've written hundreds of songs in the past 40 years and for most of that time I've kept them to myself, because it's a hobby really. However, about 8 years ago I bought a digital tape recorder which revolutionised my home recording process and upped the quality of my recordings about twenty-fold.  The deck has marginally improved my muscianship (thanks to the miracle of being able to 'punch in' over my mistakes), but not my singing (I don't have pitch control and can't see the point for me, frankly). But at least the songs are listenable now. They're not perfect and never will be.  But it's a fun thing to do and to share.  Having been persuaded by my nephews - who both play in bands - to join Soundcloud I'm only now putting my head above the parapet.  So enjoy - if that's the right word - and I welcome any comments.
