Del Rey Sunshine

There's a castle that stands,
on a hill, above the sands,
while the people below,
hatch some plans. 
Though the fields and the trees,
are packed with stupidity.
Might be you, could be me,
naturally.

These were the ways.
That they kept you in place.

As the castle looks down,
ashen faced, in the town, 
oh, the people they frown,
looking down.
And they never glance up,
at these rocks they've piled above, 
piled for years, piled with tears,
piled with love.

The castle surrounds, 
a cliff top, above the town, 
seabirds cry,
as they circle around 
Control has no bounds,
like a face in the clouds,
looking down at the state of the town. 

And what will we be?
for one thing, we're not free.

which watches, 
you go.

Castles

As the sunshine peers out,
from a rupture in the clouds,
winter turns and takes his bow. 
exit stage left, going down.
Applause fades away,
and the blacks into greys,
no colour's displayed. 

As the birds return to nests,
that the winds have almost wrecked,
The crows look on through hungry eyes,
spinning circles in the skies. 
Though the danger remains.
Hope the secrets are safe.
Almost nothing is sacred 

Distant hills create a frame,
joined up to the window pane.
a whole day which contains nought,
just a fragment of a thought.
Within or without.
The snow flys about.
Whilst we lay around. 

All your things placed in a line, 
as a way to pass the time, 
and though I guess what's yours is mine,
this final case is borderline.
You're falling awake.
As the time slips away.
Need a reason to stay. 

Though there's been lack of want,
could have seen it more up front.
Turn around you're back to front,
facing forward to the sun.
You're watching him play,
and you've nothing to say.
Nothing left to say. 

Moon companion in the sky.
Just a plane that's flying by,
in which people sit around,
listen carefully to the sounds. 
It's hope not dismay.
That the people remain.
As they're flying away.

Chris Drabble, based in the Northwest of England, is a rock guitarist who has over 50 years of playing experience.
With nearly 50K streams on SoundCloud in the last 12 months being a mixture of Guitar Rock and softer Ambient instrumental tracks, Chris is now ramping up his rock guitar work with his latest album ‘Foot to the Floor’, which harks back to his youth when rock guitar tracks had a catchy opening riff, and was the sort exciting music you felt you had to tap your foot to. 
His influences include Rush, Led Zeppelin, The Police, Simple Minds, Pink Floyd, Joe Satriani and Jimi Hendrix. He is currently listening to Porcupine Tree, Dream Theatre.
