Every now and then, I like to make songs that take me to this familiar place in myself that I used to visit more often when I was younger, and less often now. It's this idea that who I am now visits who I was years ago, and even the idea of the person that I WILL be years FROM now, paying me a visit, here in the present day...nostalgic, contemplative, weathered, seasoned, young, naive, grey hair, innocent, curious, finished, barely started...Young me speaking with present me, Present me speaking with future me. It's a cozy thought I keep.

Had fun trying something a little different on this sort of Lo-Fi R&P track. Initially I was uncertain about who would fit on such an obscure instrumental. But Austin Sebek from Splendor Tree was adventurous enough to jump right onto this and bring it into a direction that sounds so smooth and natural. I wrote the lyrics for this song “Be Still” months ago, not knowing what kind of crazy future was ahead of us all. But now it seems that we need this reminder more than ever...to be still and know that He is God. That phrase comes from Psalm 46, where the reader is told to “be still” even though the whole world is literally crashing down. When you really look at the context of Psalm 46, it makes that phrase so much more powerful. Now is the time to open the scriptures and ask Jesus to speak to any storm in our soul and say “Peace! Be still!” ..I hope this song can be a reminder for people to find peace and security in Christ in these wild times.
