Diving into the month of February, we feel it would only be appropriate to pay homage to one of the greatest hip-hop producers of all time, the late great, J Dilla. This mix is very special to me as it is dedicated to the honor of the late great J Dilla. I made this to showcase the versatility & amazing quality of work from one of the greatest producers of all-time. 
   From emerging from the gritty city of Detroit to showcasing his genius to the entire world before his passing at age 32, Dilla (also known as Jay Dee) always kept his love for all forms of music front and center. It's my honor and duty to continue to push music forward and keep his memory alive with everything I have in me. 
       I will post a tracklist soon but I want you all to just engulf the mix and embrace the rhythms. Music can truly change lives and we all must be creative in every aspect of our lives. Word to Dilla.

SCR Mix Series Vol.4 - Freddie Joachim

On March 22nd 2016, hip-hop lost one of its most iconic voices when Malik Taylor (better known as Phife Dawg aka The Five Foot Assassin) passed away following a 25 year battle with diabetes. The mark he left on the music industry is well documented, most notably for being a founding member of A Tribe Called Quest, one of the greatest & most consistent rap groups of all time. 

This mixtape from Jerry Nice entitled "Live & Direct – A Phife Dawg Tribute" pays homage not only to his work within the group, but also several solo tracks & guest features throughout his career.
