Spaniard Javi Redondo makes an appearance on the superb Meant label with a new offering of tracks that come complete with remixes from Bohemian Groove and Get A Room.

Javi has been DJing for more than 15 years but his production career is in its relative infancy, yet he has already impressed with his fresh musical perspective with a few tracks already released by a couple of recognized labels.

Meanwhile Remain’s Meant label has long established itself as a contemporary outlet for credible electronic sounds releasing music from the likes of Vosper, Rework, Alien Alien and Remain himself.

The opener and title track is a perfect slice of slo-mo electronica with a grungy and psychedelic flavor brought on by dirty guitar friffs and gringing drums that set a dark post apocalyptic tone. Shadowy vocals and noir synth lines bring plenty of menace to this rough analogue anthem.

Bohemian Groove turn in a remix that is a little more electric and club ready, its still a moody affair with explosive synths and occult voices lurking in the shadows, but this one is also married to a more direct and driving tech house groove.

‘Motorway’ is, as the title hints, a classic bit of motoric house with a rolling guitar played bass line, crisp boom bap snares and plenty of dark wave synth and guitar lines that conjure thoughts of DJ greats like Andrew Weatherall and Ewan Pearson. It’s slick and gliding at the same time as being delightfully angsty.

Get A Room! Appear on remix duties and add in vocal traffic report musings, more disco styled synths but also slow down the groove and allow it to spit and kick a bit more roughly than the streamlined original.

If you buy the release digitally you also get ‘No Cool Night’, which is a gurgling, dystopian bonus track with blurting synths, malfunctioning machines and menacing moods all pervading from start to finish.

This is an arresting EP of well made, perfectly analogue electronic music that takes it cues from indie as much as techno and excels as a result.

Off the back of another incredible summer that saw 'Cool You Off', 'Breathin' and 'Make Me Feel Good' become staples in the Beatport chart, EDX looks set to finish the year with the same gusto as he started with his latest EP, 'Collateral Effects', coming through on Enormous Tunes on 1st December. 

With his progressive sound specifically designed to make people smile, the two-track EP delivers some of EDX's signature melody work that'll instantly brighten up the dance floor. Its title track 'Collateral Effects' features an elevating, nu-disco beat that's layered with soft male vocals and hints of string and percussion work, whilst the B side named 'Empathy' takes things deeper with a dominating kick drum - and a great demonstration of Maurizio Colella, aka EDX's long-standing dedication to the scene.

After gracing the bill alongside Avicii and Laidback Luke at Ibiza's coveted open air club Ushuaia bcd in August, EDX is currently undergoing a massive tour of North America; proving that 2014 has been another stellar year for the Swiss. Besides his notable release success, EDX continues to head up his weekly 'No Xcuses' global radio show which presents the works of both popular and up-and-coming house producers' from around the world - and he's also a member of up and coming Swiss collective Helvetic Nerds. 

With an official music video for 'Make Me Feel Good' on the horizon and a remix of Sandy Rivera's BANG! coming through on Ultra Records, 'Collateral Effects' is a perfect way to round off the year and will see you right through the winter months.

On January 16, James Yuill of folktronic fame returns, teaming up with British production newcomer Jackson, on ‘Love Love Love’ – An addictive dance/folk fusion full of good vibes, complete with James’ soft distinctive vocals, mellow organs and cool guitars.
With a background in DJing, producing was a natural next step for London based Jackson, meeting with James Yuill and convincing him into the studio for this collaboration. As an artist, James is known for his incredible one man electro-folk shows which he has toured around the world alongside the likes of Phoenix, Hot Chip, Royksopp, Temper Trap and M83. He has released full-length albums on the constantly cool UK indie Moshi Moshi, Nettwerk, Co-Operative Music as well as his on his own Happy Biscuit Club label.
 
As a producer, remixer and featured artist, James has collaborated with the likes of X-Press 2, David Holmes, Casiokids, Au Revoir Simone, Downtown Party Network, Post War Years and Trophy Wife.
To make things more dance floor friendly, remixers include hot German producer Zwette, still riding high from his recent remix of Tom Odell’s ‘Another Love,’ offering a speedy stripped down version of the original. Also worth a look – the dub mix, echoing James’ vocal with deep bass and spacious effects.
Elsewhere on the remixes, Sascha Klober of SRTW fame, and who’s remix has been a top 10 Beatport monster that won’t disappear,  takes things deep with chopped vocals, grand chord progressions and a cool lead line. House extraordinaire Vanilla Ace applies his trademark skills, adding a UK Garage flavour and a wobbly bassline to his mix. And finally Sakloe finishes off the remixes with a tropical vibe, adding light fx to the guitars and a powerful mid range encompassing soft keys and galactic stabs – definitely one that will creep into your new year playlists!

It's Wednesday so here at Data Transmission, we thought you lovely readers deserved an exclusive premiere to see you through to the weekend. Thankfully, our friends over at Milk & Sugar Recordings were on hand with the perfect track to pick us all up from the mid-week slump!

For the label's next release, up-and-coming Londoner Jackson has teamed up with electo-folk hero James Yuill to create 'Love Love Love', which the press release promises is "an addictive dance/folk fusion full of good vibes". Our premiere today however, sees deep house's latest star, Vanilla Ace, on a garage tip with Dharkfunkh, splicing 'Love Love Love' with a punchy beat and a bass line built purely for the dance floor.
