Performer’s Biographies
Hailing from Rio Grande do Sul in Southern Brazil, Hans Michael Anselmo Hess is a film composer, guitarist and samba specialist. He earned a master’s degree in composition from the University of Bristol, where he has been a visiting lecturer and guitar tutor in the Music Department since 2006. He has been writing music for short and feature films, as well as promotional videos. Recent projects includes composer and musical director for a dance workshops and theatrical play ‘The Bridges Project’ a theatrical play led by Edson Burton which combines urban and modern music. Hans is currently working in Bristol with play directors Nick Young and Martine Shackerley-Bennett. He has also composed music for independent British feature movie, Consequence (2012) directed by Si Wall, as well as being an exclusive member of the audio library, Jingle Punks and for Booktracks, having his music used in USA TV series and iPad applications. Since 2011 his British/Brazilian transcontinental collaboration with Renan Franzen resulted in their debut album {CLOSEDLOCKEDSEALED} which won wide acclaim in the progressive rock music scenes, and most recently their epic single An Accurate Depiction Of Light. He is currently completing his PhD this year at the University of Bristol entitled Uses of Samba in Films (1950-2011). 

Growing up in the desert sunshine of the colourful American Southwest, New Mexican flautist Jessica Quiñones blends the fields of flute performance, flute pedagogy, and ethnomusicology into an active international career. Acclaimed for her beautiful tone, detailed musicianship, and innovative teaching techniques, she has given recitals, masterclasses and lectures to audiences across the globe. She has published frequent articles appearing in the British Flute Society Journal, and America's Flute Talk Magazine, her unique pedagogical techniques cited in the UK's Music Education Research Journal.  She holds performance degrees from the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music (USA), and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music (now called the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). Jessica is currently completing a PhD this year in flute performance at the University of Huddersfield, where she has received full funding to explore Astor Piazzolla's tango flute music which took her to live, dance and perform the tango in Buenos Aires in 2010. She currently resides in County Wicklow, Ireland.
