After taking a few months off to focus in the studio finishing my artist album, and with just a handful of festival shows in between, I’m now shifting gears back into DJ mode as I head back on the road—especially for club shows where I’ll be playing longer sets.
Having that time and headspace has also allowed me to reconnect with the deeper, darker, hypnotic Progressive side of my sound—something I’m really excited to explore more. This month’s mix is a little showcase of that direction.
In the second half of the show, we go full power with one of my favourite Psychedelic DJs, Hamish from the UK.

Unbroken (Original Mix)

Christopher Lawrence is at it again, this time teaming up with No Comment for a superb new track titled Horizon. 

No Comment is the new project by Orpheus and Omer 'Rizo' Kadosh (aka Krunch & Dark Soho). The two are known for their distinctive and groundbreaking psy trance sound which has catapulted them into the charts and sets of all the top DJs including Infected Mushroom, Azax Syndrom, Cosmonet, Jano, and of course Christopher Lawrence. The guys are definitely in the fast lane for success. 

It’s no wonder that when these three talented producers stepped into the studio they would create something special. Horizon begins as a pumping track with a solid rolling bassline that builds in intensity to the break down with the help of plenty of effects and an ethereal vocal. In the breakdown the true power of the track emerges in an epic melody that swells in a massive crescendo. Christopher Lawrence and Orpheus are on fire with their latest collaboration which is a certified dancefloor slayer. There Is A Place has already traveled the globe opening and closing sets for both Christopher Lawrence and Orpheus, including Dreamstate SoCal, FreakNight Festival, Ozmozis NYE and Groove BA - and every time the crowd went insane. For the past few months, everyone has been asking “what is that track?” and now it will finally be revealed.

The cinematic intro with its lush pads and mysterious sounding melody instantly commands attention. Even more dramatic is the spoken word narrative that drops in the intro and again in the break -  “There is a place where time stands still and history has not yet begun, a place of breathtaking wonder. The boys are at it again! A tour date in Buenos Aires wouldn’t be the same if it didn’t end up in studio session for Christopher Lawrence and Fergie & Sadrian. Three years in row they have joined forces and this time they came away with not one, but two banging tracks. Resolution / Nervous is a Featured Release on Beatport's Psy-Trance page with support from everyone from Mark Sherry to John Askew. The release is currently #5 on the Trance Release chart, and #9 on the Psy-Trance chart.

Nervous is the perfect follow up to Livewire, their last collaboration. Combining elements of trance, techno and psy trance, Nervous hits the dance floor sweet spot. An ominous melody is subverted by a twisted acid line as a vocal sample asks “Are you nervous?” making the breakdown a signature track in any set.

Resolution, the second track of this release is reminiscent of the darker underground trance of the late nineties. Multiple melodies and quirky sounds cascade in a lush chorus taking the listener deeper while a low bass with a bit of wiggle in it keeps the bodies in motion.
