Laniakea means "Immeasurable Heaven" in Hawaiian.
A suitable name for the great community of galaxies we live in.
On the edge of Laniakea, in a galaxy named the Milky Way, around a star we call the Sun, there's a small blue marble.
Our modest home, Earth.

Here you are, inside a wintry observatory in Antarctica.

As it developed, I felt as I was writing an opening title for mystery drama.

In Step (Film Music / Mystery / Drama)

we all have a mother 
who we cry for in the middle of the night 
while she’s griped in blood and stained 
dancing under moonlight 

we find the world through tears 
so that I may wipe hers and she may wipe mine 
but this life did not come easy 
and the devil has a price 

all the scriptures and the prayers 
could not deliver to her a child
but delivered her to evil instead
and she now kisses the ground of false idols

we all have a mother
who we now send to the bottom of the lake
or to hang from the gallows
for simply misplacing her faith

with my name still on her lips
she is mistrialed and burned—
we look down on her with god—
for loving her child more 

now we lead her to an early grave 
into another life 
such as she delivered us 
and in us, she survives
