Hai Art in the frame of Case Pyhäjoki invited the artist to share her experience as a Fukushima victim in the context of Pyhäjoki nuclear power plant plans.

Ryoko Akama wrote a musical score for the sonic journey from Hailuoto to Pyhäjoki. She collected 8 stones, 2 from Fukushima, 2 from Marumori, 2 from Hailuoto and 2 from Pyhäjoki. The Sonic Boat Journey turned radiation data via a handmade geiger counter and geographical score of the Fukushima disaster into a score was performed by AGF and Ryoko on the Bothnian Bay/ Finland.

The piece was recorded on site @Hanhikivi Cape where the nuclear power plant is planned.

We support Pro-Hanhikivi in their resistance against the project, especially after investigating all angles around the Fennovoima plans.

Originally the India Street neighborhood extended beyond what is now known as the Franklin Arterial.  Homes lined small streets where you now see one prominent throughway. It was argued that Portland needed a wider street system that could accommodate traffic. You can see the ghost of the old neighborhood if you walk up to Newbury Street just beyond Hampshire St.  There you can see that the street suddenly ends, but you can also trace the line of where it would extend across The Arterial to the police department and court house. Many families were dislocated to make room for this urban design. Markos Miller shared this story. He is involved with The Franklin Reclamation Authority.

For sound artist Susan Alexjander, music is all around us, built into the very fabric of our existence: our DNA, our cells, our planets and our stars. Everything is vibrating, she says, and she uses these vibrations as the building blocks for her compositions.  This technique is far afield from her training: Susan studied classical composition at San Jose State University. But around 1988, she says, her music career took an interesting turn. Washi paper, suspended by thread, responded to vibration energy created by vibration speakers. The sounds were tuned to activate the surfaces of the paper and stimulate interaction between the edges of the paper pieces.
