Images du Futur, this year's Secretly Canadian-released sophomore album from Montreal's Suuns, receives fittingly edgy remix treatment from Canada's premier electronic label, Turbo Recordings. The nationalistic pride ends there, however, as the remixers are strictly European.

Leading the charge are Scottish techno prodigies Clouds, arguably the most important artists to emerge on the roster of Tiga's 15 year strong imprint since Duke Dumont and Gesaffelstein rose to stardom. Their remix is a brooding stomper that reflects the development of their sound in the concrete wonderland of the UK's underground scene. It's not bright or obvious, but, as with their recently released debut lp, it's a rewardingly profound listen for what is essentially a club-shaking DJ tool.

Fellow 'New Jack Techno' cohort joeFarr turns in two stellar versions built around massive distorted kick drums, already on the hype radar since Tiga kicked off his acclaimed Boiler Room set with the second of the two, a decidedly more clubby effort while the first mix chugs along at a slower tempo, leaving extra space for all the grit and grime of his heavily textured sounds.

Finally, French DJ-journeyman Ivan Smagghe weighs in with a pair as well… firstly converting 2020 into a style all his own, a kind of zombie cowboy march as It's A Fine Line (alongside Tim Paris)… and, even more finally, with a brilliant re-edit of an older track on Suuns's catalog, Up Past the Nursery. It's a deep, after-hours epic and surely the most accessible and pop moment on the EP, sure to fit in equally well into the sets of house DJs as well as late-night loft-party hipsters.

BOT is one of the producers who have shaped modern dance music since the beginning of his career, starting in the seminal Crookers duo and more recently one of the founders of Main Course. He’s graced the Night Bass label a few times in the past on collaborations with Sinden and Tony Quattro, but this is his first full EP as a solo artist, and it definitely delivers. The title track features incredible vocalist Kaleena Zanders over top of a grimy, fist-pumping beat driven by BOT’s signature fuzzy bass textures. Rounding up the release is “Just Say”, a nostalgic jackin’ house sound with modern production values.

The title track possesses a bit more of a break down and slap you in the face element while memories is a bit more of a roller!

A real top draw remix package on this in the shape of A Lister and Jhonsson! A Lister fresh off the back of is massively successful 'Time' that featured on The Hype Vol. 2 and he really is hitting all shapes of form! Puts that driving twist on the title track to give it a perfect new dimension. Also very very excited to have Jhonsson grace the label! Ryos, at only 17-years-old, has crafted a remarkable start to his ever-bourgeoning career as a DJ/producer with a slew of high-octane releases on noteworthy imprints including Spinnin, Revealed and Enhanced Music. The young New Yorker's emphasis on melodies, both spirited and moving, has not only shed light on his immaculate productions but lifted them from the competitive dance music space.
He returns with an official remix of Thomas Hayden and Mr. Saccardo's single, "Burn" featuring Elly Ray. The production opens up to a delicate piano sequence that's intertwined with ambient pads and Ray's warm vocals. Rather than opting for one of his signature progressive house drops, he gradually sneaks in a house-inspired bass line that soon becomes the centerpiece of the soundscape. The drop exudes a dark and moody mystique that captures a brand new side to Ryos' talent. His refreshing remix is available as a free download on CLUTCH Records. Enjoy!
