The South London based Church imprint continue their output of quality house and techno music with the next instalment of their white label series from neighbour Laurence Guy. According to his bio, Laurence was “raised by strippers in the dressing room of a Chicago lapdancing club with only a stack of Prince records for company.” While we can’t confirm that, the maker of punchy house music has certainly got our attention. Taken from his upcoming EP of the same name, i-D exclusively share Kojak. The smooth summertime jam eases you in with the gentlest of percussion, synth whirs and chimes, before drums and blissfully distorted bass holds your hand all the way to groove town. Press play.

Sound Mirror presents the debut release of another new talent from the Orson Wells clique. Hailing from the deeper westside of Frankfurt (South Hessia), please welcome : Gerait, head honcho of Bockenheim Housenation. Sweet ambient sounds slide into an epic deep house stomper on side A, followed by an atmospheric and lush minimal synth disco track on B1, plus a bass heavy, slightly eery and sort of tribal rhythm track on B2. Another great eclectic and well rounded 12" EP.

Aus Music continue a stellar 2017 and begin the festival season with the welcome return of long-term label friend Sei A. Having released a total of 2 EPs and the extolled ‘Space in Your Mind’ LP on the label, his return comes in the form of a pensive but purposeful 4-tracker titled ‘Alone’.

The title track starts things off with rich atmospherics accumulating over a distant thud. Mournful melodies snowball as delayed synths interweave and build a warm, comforting layer. ‘Bring It On’ then recalls his previous outings on Aus as intricate, shuffling drums generate an deep, hypnotic groove.

‘Holding’ then rolls out a dubby, eyes down tone as sunken drums propel mournful melodies before ‘Time Control’ balances an urgent drum-loop against a gently tumbling motif that brings a heartfelt set of club tracks to a close.

Chicago legend Jamal Moss, also commonly known as Hieroglyphic Being, supplies a diverse collection of electronic excursions on his 'R-Spirits Will Not Be Broken' EP via Seth Troxler and The Martinez Brothers’ Tuskegee Music imprint, including the acid-tinged deep house cut 'Salvation Is The Cure'.

Having been strongly influenced by witnessing Ron Hardy play at the iconic Chicago venue Muzic Box, Jamal's been known to showcase a raw and unapologetic essence to his distinctly original material. His latest outing sees him break the mold of dance music once again, with four tracks that reveal his innovative approach to music production. 

The 'R-Spirits Will Not Be Broken' EP is set for release October 19.

There’s no rest for Tender Games. Shortly after his disco anthem “Movin’”, the German-Jamaican producer and soul singer serves his next midnight snack. “Love Was The Motive” is even more funky and playful than its predecessor. With its clavinet groove, upright bass and afrobeat percussions, “Love Was The Motive” feels like a real 70s funk throwback.
The original track comes along with two remixes by Pépe and Marc Brauner.
Marc Brauner seasons his remix with early 2000-electronic trip-hop vibes – think of Air colliding with Café del Mar.
