58th episode with a personal favorite.

Non-Print label head and producer Głós (@prayforglos) wants to create something outside of the conforming realm of Techno. He has already reinvented his early work through his first album, and his lucid yet straight-to-the-point productions continue to reveal a rarefied character. 

Głós (pronounced ‘Gwos’) has made a point out of not following the sometimes linear Techno patterns with his artistry. He comes from a band-focused Rock-environment and runs his own label, arranged to be a wildly experimental project. In his earlier years, Głós was in several ways a close contributor to the Ressort Imprint label—founded by fellow producer Ekserd—since its start in 2013, already then having left his native Poland to become a Berlin citizen. 

Głós’s successive platform, his very own label Non-Print, released his debut album ‘Fem’ in September 2018—marking the exact five year anniversary date of his first EP, ‘There Is No One Like You’ (Ressort Imprint, 2013). The producer describes it as ‘a collection of re-works as well as new material without any creative limitations’. ‘Fem’ is presented as one continuous mix—with each of the tracks being available in their own individual entity. 

As a producer and performer, Głós’s background, which is a very hands-on analogue way of working—recording for example distorted keyboards and guitars—continues to influence his music. The industrial rawness of these elements are still present in his Techno, only now existing mantled by a softer Drone- and Ambient-type of layer. Głós portrays filmic scenes in his music. You are surely guided by the kick-drum, but the productions are spatial—distant rave signals and voices echo in a fantasy-like landscape. 

His live performances are often a hybrid of his own work and others. The Techno is pure Głós, but in various parts he manipulates selected Ambient pieces, making them his own for his distinctive shows. Again a situation where Głós’s live band-background plays a big part. 

‘World Enough’ is the Berliner's seventh and latest album released on Joachim Spieth's Affin imprint, showcasing a different approach of Głós opposed to his more up-beat productions made for the dance floor.

Originally from a metalcore and hardcore background he has always enjoyed electronic and experimental music. Delving deep in the unknown space of impulsive rhythms, dissociative sounds and dark and eerie atmospheres, his goal is to mesmerize the listeners with his productions and DJ-Sets. 

He has been establishing his soundscapes in the local and international scene since 2019. Releasing on labels like Charybdis, Further Sessions, KVLTÖ, Records and Deflection Music just to name a few.

Silent Servant is the primary pseudonym of California electronic artist Juan Mendez, who produces techno with a heavy post-punk/industrial influence. He first began releasing material as Silent Servant during the mid-2000s, when he was a key member of the influential techno collective Sandwell District. Following numerous well-received underground singles, he made a major impact on the techno world with Negative Fascination, his acclaimed 2012 full-length debut. Following Mendez's co-founding of the Jealous God label in 2013, as well as several singles and collaborations with the likes of Marcel Dettmann and Phase Fatale, Silent Servant released his second album, the more overtly EBM-influenced Shadows of Death and Desire, in 2018.  2023 sees Mendez continuing to Play the US and Europe, New releases On L.I.E.S., Tresor and maintaining his sixth year of the Optimistic Decay radio show on NTS.

This autumn, Monochrome is offering each month to one or several artists to discover their influences and inspirations through a forty-five minute to two hour recording. These three recordings will focus on percussive rhythms between Ambient, Deep Techno and Drum & Bass.

Farazdeck is a project focusing on the exploration of deep, hypnotic and organic music. This artistic project gets inspiration in our surroundings, its understanding and exploration such as nature, rituals, or psychology, spirituality, science and space.

Self-meditation is an important aspect of IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapy which had a profound impact on my life. 

Self is our internal energy, known as a source or soul. Self is in every one of us. It can't be damaged or broken. It's the source of our compassion, courage, curiosity, and connectedness. It has healing potential in all the parts of our psyche.

When we access more Self within us we can hear and connect with ourselves and with others. We are more grounded so to speak. 

Some time ago I stumbled upon this meditation by Darshan Stevens and as an experiment I put on a techno beat. After a year of this experiment, I believe it's about time to share this tune with you.

Bacchus was born of Zeus and Semele's union against the will of Hera, Zeus wife. When the jealous Hera learned of Semele's pregnancy by Zeus she angrily plotted against them. She disguised herself and came to Semele, telling her she should ask that Zeus appear before her in all his glory as the god of thunder.Zeus swore to grant whatever wish Semele might have. Forced to abide by his oath, he appeared to Semele as a display of lightening and thunder, which killed her. As Semele died, she gave birth to Bacchus, who died as well. Zeus restored life to him and sent the child to be raised by the nymphs, out of Hera's jealous eye.

As the god of spring, he is Bacchus is said to be in terrible pain during winter when the flowering plants and vines wither and die.
His followers were called bacchants. After reveling and overindulging in wine, they danced around in a craze often trampling and tearing people and animals to pieces. Bacchanalia was a festival held which involved excessive drinking and drunken orgies. Also known as Dionysus [Greek].
