The Dames are Clare Moore on drums, songs and vocals, Kaye Louise Patterson on keys, songs and vocals and Rosie Westbrook on bass and backing vocals.

Clare Moore plays currently and has played for many years, with Dave Graney - from the Moodists to the Coral Snakes and now the mistLY . Her debut solo cd “the third woman” was released on Chapter Music in 2002 and “liquor”, her disc of a double set opposed to Dave Graney’s “hashish” in 2005 . And now the DAMES.  Clare Moore also plays with the Ukeladies and Harry Howard and the NDE and has been involved in writing and recording for film and tv. Being nominated for an ARIA for “the soundtrack to the movie BAD EGGS” in 2003.Her songs are very much studio constructions and include a paen to “Eve”, the female character in the tv show IRONSIDE and also “the Groosalugg”, a character from ANGEL.
Kaye Louise Patterson also writes songs for the DAMES. Her background includes playing as part of Acuffs Rose. Pioneers of alt country before any other wagons set up in that part of the prairie. She also released her brilliant solo album, "INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL" in 2006. Missing the camaraderie of a band, she hooked up with Moore and BAM! The DAMES is born! Her songs are very much piano trio based and include an instrumental tribute to DUDLEY MOORE and an epic tribute to a little known paradise of evergreen forests and sailing boats called “California”. 

Rosie Westbrook is involved with composing film soundtracks and international touring with the esteemed Mick Harvey, among others. 

Their debut self titled album was recorded at Atlantis in Melbourne and has been mixed by acclaimed, award winning icon of UK post punk and 90s film funk music BARRY ADAMSON.in Brighton, UK. Barry being an old friend of Clare Moore’s since her days in the Moodists and his in Magazine and the Bad Seeds. Old Time Weirdness is in the House! Guaranteed!

Pianist Mark Fitzgibbon was born into a strong entertainment tradition. He is the son of well known Australian entertainer, jazzman and restaurateur Graham “Smacka” Fitzgibbon, nephew to actress singer Maggie Fitzgibbon and grandson to pianist vaudevillian Min Fitzgibbon, his sister Nichaud is a famed jazz vocalist and brother Andrew a notable drummer. A piano student from an early age, he studied music under Fred Thomas, Graham Rule, Marie Driscoll and Trevor Barnard but mostly learned from going on the road like everyone. Mark started with many leading Melbourne bands including Vince Jones and Wilbur Wildes “Blowout”. In the eighties move to London and performed throughout Europe for the next seven years. In London worked as a freelance pianist regularly performing at the 606 club, Pizza Express and Ronnie Scotts jazz clubs.

Notable UK bands included Tommy Chase qt, Alan Barne’s Pizza Express Modern Jazz Sextet, Clarke Tracey's groups, Gerard Presencer qt, Jean Toussaint, Anthony Kerr qt, Louis Stewart, Peter King, Charles Mcpherson, Don Weller,Dave O'Higgins, Ronnie Scott, Moontwist, The Moodists, Bryan Spring trio, Don Weller, Art Themen, Henry Lowther qt, George Coleman jr quartet, Tina May and Claire Martin. 

Mark returned to Australia in the 90's and won the Wangarratta jazz festival prize. Has worked and recorded with with many of Australias finest jazz performers including Dale Barlow, Bernie Mcgann, Christine Mcnulty, Fiona Burnett Andrew Speight, Jamie Oehlers, Scott Tinkler, Ian Chaplin, Wilbur Wilde, Sabrina Montgomery, Cam Mcallister, David Rex, Willow Neilsen, Nichaud Fitzgibbon and his own trios and quartets. A highly regarded pianist Mark has continued to be in demand within Australia as a solo artist, accompanist, composer and recording artist on stage, tv and radio. Mark has accompanied many international jazz stars such as Scott Hamilton, Lee Konitz, John Stubblefield, Curtis Lundy, Claire Martin, Mark Murphy and George Coleman jr on their tours in Oz Mark has recently been working in Melbourne with his jazz piano trio and quintet, his sister jazz vocalist Nichaud, Dale Barlow and George Coleman jr qt, Ruth Rogers Wrights Nina Simone show, Dave Graney's Lurid yellow mist, jazzreggae group Skankin', a tv jazzshow for Ch31 and a duo with the dynamic violinist Susannah Ng. and some other weird and wonderful situations.
 
Mark recently returned to Melbourne from WA where he was artist in residence and lecturer in Jazz at WAAPA, Edith Cowan University.

Mark is currently working in Shanghai with the Theo Crocker Collective, Jz Big Band and his trio.

In the beginning, there was Laurent Leemans, singer of the folk-rock combo Ceilí Moss from 1996 to 2015 and of the arty-new wave band La Vierge du Chancelier Rolin in the 90s. In 2012, the longing to bring to life some songs that had not found their place in the repertoire of his groups ended up becoming stronger than the fear of becoming the umpteenth silly sod on acoustic guitar who hoots his existentialism on two and a half chords.

The imaginary suitcase is the one in which Laurent keeps his dead dreams, those that still breathe and the memories of his fantasized lives. The Imaginary Suitcase remained a solitary project until 2020, when Laurent ended up wanting to broaden his palette. This is how Janaina Costa (OK Lion!) on vocals and Vincent Romain (Linda Lou & the Line Movers, Clover Stompers, Thea & the Mugs, Alain Cupper, ea The man is prolific!) on solo guitar, mandolin and dobro have joined him and so they have been performing as a trio since July 2021.

Since 9 years, The Imaginary Suitcase strives to find the perfect balance between clear line, almost pop melodies (think The Civil Wars, or Leonard Cohen meets Suzanne Vega…), and a willingly rough sound reminiscent of 16 Horsepower or Hugo Race. The result? Songs built around refined harmonies between Laurent's deep voice and Jana's lighter one, two equally powerful, tender, sarcastic, melancholic or enraged but always intense voices, deceptively simple guitar chords delicately ornamented by Vincent and razor-sharp lyrics about life, death and the creepy moments in between.

Since 2012, The Imaginary Suitcase has released 9 recordings and performed around 300 concerts in Belgium, France and the Netherlands. The latest album (“The gods gave you victory today only to make your final defeat more bitter”) is available on all platforms since March 2021, and new songs are currently being written.

Rock band.Dave Graney (vox/gtr) and Clare Moore(drums/vibes/keys)  were in the Moodists-post punk Melbourne band.Then Dave Graney and the Coral Snakes. 

Graney and Moore have been involved in making of roughly 30 albums. Also about 7 digital releases, four or five albums as part of other peoples bands, several compilations, two solo albums from Clare Moore as well as her side projects The Dames and The Routines. Four feature film soundtracks. Dave Graney released a book about his music life in 2011, "1001 australian nights" and a more personal book (more focused on all the jobs the took to be a musician) in 2018 called WORKSHY. A second book of lyrics spanning the years 1980-2023 called THERE HE GOES WITH HIS EYE OUT came out in 2023. 
2024 sees an album come out on Classic Jewel case Compact Disc called (strangely)(emotional).
