The first notes of this song came to me in May 2022, just after composing “Même si tout s'arrête”. Perhaps this explains a certain resemblance in the way they were constructed, namely vintage synth chords which serve as support for the melody and a theme speaking of a love story. But the comparison stops there because the two titles really each have their own character and identity which distinguish them from each other without hesitation.
This song was in the works for almost a year, before I wrote the lyrics last May, and recorded it. Then my friend Freddie from MTM Production put his touch to re-mix and master this title, giving it some punch and all the necessary dynamics. Freddie, thank you again for all the experience and time you give to my creations. In my eyes, it is of inestimable value.
I hope you enjoy discovering this title, at least as much pleasure as I had writing and producing it. As usual, don't hesitate to "like" and repost, it's very appreciated and so important to Freddie and me!

The Eclectic Collective -- composition

This song began, as so many of ours do, with JJ coming up with the skeleton of it on his electric piano, organ, and synth during one of his Saturday night jam sessions. He originally laid down a bass line for it, too, which might be better than what Josh came up with, But he was kind enough to let Josh in on it, too, adding his four string fretless bass on top of Ken's intricate, lively drums.

  Once the rhythm section was complete, it was time for Stephen and Tez to add their guitar magic to the mix, too. They both laid down some thrilling guitar lines throughout. Josh lastly added the spooky synth theremin you hear throughout.

  When it was all finished and in the can, we asked Stephen to mix it for us, which he did in a professional manner. He also added the creepy sound effects you hear throughout, as well. 

  This song is an example of how the Eclectic Collective can take an idea from one of us, and make it grow into a monster. Speaking of monsters, we decided to release this a day early to coincide with the holiday. Happy Halloween from The Eclectic Collective! We hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoyed creating it.

This song began with David, who wrote it on the guitar, synth, and bass over a programmed beat he created. He and Josh met more than two months ago and decided to do a collaboration, based on mutual enjoyment of and respect for each other's music. Dave had this song pretty much fleshed out, although it was still a skeleton when he offered it to Josh, who, of course, got the rest of the Eclectic Collective involved.

Dave asked us all to compose our own parts for the song, so we all got to work right away doing that. We all realized that the first order of business would be to get a real beat on this, so Ken accomplished that task with some dynamic, Eastern inspired drums and percussion, which he plays throughout the song. JJ then stepped in and added his best eastern flute magic. Stephen was next with the perfect-vibe sitar you hear in the first two sections.

Josh came next to add his five-string fretless bass to the mix, augmenting David's high, staccato bass with his deep, low tone bass. Then, for the third section, where David's Gilmore-esque guitar solo resides, Josh drops out, allowing for Dave's awesome bass playing in that section. However, Josh does come in again towards the end, in the final section, too. Also, in that section, Tez dropped an augmented, harmonic, electric fire, complementary guitar part. Then, David's frequent collaborator and friend Ron added some well blended, ethereal synth to the first section, too.

Once we had the instrumental parts pretty much laid down, we began to discuss getting a woman to sing on this, as David was inspired by The Great Gig in the Sky, by Pink Floyd, and we all agreed. Who we found to do it actually blew all of our minds. JJ, being familiar with her music, contacted Elpi first, and we were all lucky enough that she agreed to do it. Having heard Mediterranean music all her life in Greece, she tapped into what her husband said were her "ancient Greek roots," for her spectacular vocal performance. She finds all the modal notes and places them perfectly throughout her sections.

But before we were done, Mark came through with some really striking talking drum parts in the first two sections, too. Once we had everything in the can, David took over, both with some masterful editing and production, and with the balanced, dynamic mix. The mix was a formidable task, but he did it with considerable skill, also taking everyone's opinions into account, which is a talent in and of itself. When he was done with the mix, he turned it over to Stephen for the mastering, which the latter did to everyone's satisfaction, as always.

This is the first song the Eclectic Collective has done with David, Elpi, and Ron, and we all hope it's the first of many, as we welcome them into the EC family. They all have some wonderful music on their pages, too, so do yourself a favor and check out all of them, as well. We hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoyed creating it.

The Siege (by David Marconi, featuring Elpiverse, Ron Lewis & The Eclectic Collective)

In the hazy heart of London's underground, Kaleido existed in a perpetual swirl of vivid, mind-expanding color. Their sanctuary was a smoke-filled loft studio in an abandoned warehouse overlooking Camden Lock—a chaotic haven drenched in the heavy scent of incense, scattered with threadbare cushions soaked in spilled wine and sweat, flickering candles casting shadows on walls alive with hand-painted mandalas that seemed to pulse with hidden life.

Days blurred into nights of raw, uninhibited inspiration, fueled by acid's electric visions and the velvet surrender of psilocybin dreams. Orion Kaleido sprawled cross-legged on the floor, his notebook a portal for feverish poetry that poured out like cosmic revelations. Jasper “Drift” Vale teased shimmering, feedback-laced riffs from his electric guitar and hypnotic drones from the sitar, notes bending and twisting like lovers' bodies in ecstasy, lingering in the air as iridescent haze. Milo Brine hammered primal, throbbing rhythms on drums and shook the tambourine with feverish intensity, driving pulses that echoed the heartbeat of the collective.

This was the throbbing core of the free love revolution, and Kaleido embodied it without restraint. Their studio drew a constant flow of artists, drifters, mystics, and hungry seekers—a fluid commune where boundaries dissolved in waves of shared ecstasy. Connections formed not just through words or music, but through raw, intimate touch: tangled limbs on piled cushions, heated skin against skin, breathless explorations of desire that blurred into one another. They paused not merely to rest, but to revel in carnal recharge—passionate embraces, lingering caresses, and uninhibited group intimacies that they believed channeled pure creative energy, turning lust into sonic alchemy.

As darkness descended, Kaleido emerged into the pulsating neon underbelly of the scene. They played in dimly lit beatnik dens, hidden tea houses thick with hash smoke, and fog-shrouded basements where applause came in finger-snaps and knowing glances. Their performances were erotic rituals disguised as concerts: swirling projections dancing over nude silhouettes, incense mingling with the musk of aroused bodies, music that throbbed like a lover's heartbeat—electric guitar stumming in psychedelic rhythm, sitar weaving Eastern mysticism, drums pounding relentlessly, tambourine shimmering in hypnotic frenzy—opening doorways to altered states where inhibitions shattered and collective euphoria reigned.

I'm not doing any music these days,so I thought I'd post one I did years ago. It's a cover of a Paul Ads song I've always loved.

Paul Adamson is a damn fine songwriter and I hardly ever record covers of other folk's work,but this one resonated deeply with me and still does after repeated listens.
I didn't lean too heavy on the production on this,because I wanted to allow the song to shine. I hope you enjoy and bring a few listens to Paul's cloud.
