Fresen makes his debut on Manual Music with his lush EP 'Another Soul' featuring two originals + remixes by Into The Ether and Niceshot.

The Colombian producer has been around for a couple of years now and has made name for himself with strong releases on labels such as Click Records, Juicebox Music, Inner Symphony and Wold Records to name a few. He now joins the Dutch Manual Music family with the 'Another Soul EP' that kicks off with the warm and dreamy melodic title track which is followed by the more peak time uplifting track 'Alone'. Positive vibes all over!

On remix duties we first welcome Into The Ether hot on the heels of his 'Shrine' single, who provides a lovely progressive dreamer of a rework for 'Another Soul', whilst Niceshot turns 'Alone' into a funky organic deep house tune.

A strong EP all around for those who like to dream.

Why do we tell stories? 

We breathe, we eat, we sleep. We seek connection. These are our basic human needs. 

But there is one more need we all share, and it centres on stories. All across the world, stories are being recounted everywhere, in every imaginable way, at any given time. For telling stories is at the very essence of what it is to be human. 

The universe of stories can be broken down into seven basic plots which underlie all stories ever told. Recognising these patterns is the gateway to unravelling the universal symbolic language from which all storytelling is spun.

Beginning with Overcoming The Monster, Chapter 24 has gathered artists from across the globe to bring these themes to life for its Seven Stories VA series.

The compilation ends with a focus on French producer Anton Dhouran. Having already been signed by Diynamic and with music forthcoming on Jeudi Records, Anton deploys his considerable skills on ‘Meyah’, a deep, groove-laden number enhanced by ethereal pads. The real story, however, comes with ‘A Kind Of Light’ which closes the narrative with a heroic instrumental tale.

They say that there are only seven basic plots but a thousand different stories. 

And so, as the storyteller utters that age old, magical formulation, "Once upon a time...", let yourself be carried away…

Anton Dhouran - A Kind Of Light *Out Now*

Dutch producer / percussionist extraordinaire – Feiertag, releases his second EP – The Rituals the 20th of May on Boogie Angst. 

It’s a fine collection of electronica with flashes of house, nu disco, soul and pop in a thoroughly pleasing aural concoction. With guest vocals from the supremely talented Tessa Rose Jackson and Colin Lee over Feiertag’s crisp productions, it’s a polished, melodic body of work continuing to build on his signature sound he started to establish with ‘High Expectations’. 

Another great record coming out of the Boogie Angst camp that’s nicely chilled but no less danceable. Exactly what you’d expect when Kraak & Smaak are covering A&R duties. 

Opener Sunday Mornings is a relaxed track at ease with the world. Ethereal side chained synths and soulful vocal lines play over a steady analogue groove - it’s the musical equivalent of a weekend stroll through a field in summer. Beautiful. 

Tessa Rose Jackson provides beautifully melodic vocals on The Parachute – an indie electronica tune with pop and soul leanings. Laden with glistening synths and almost sound design like guitar lines. It’s a gorgeous piece that will leave listeners uplifted 

Featuring the soulful vocal talents of Colin Lee, Down To You is a tasteful track combining house and electronica with a less-is-more attitude. Carefully accented with echoed percussive fills - it’s a laid back affair with reverb drenched synth pads subtly evolving around the drum peaks and troughs. 

Body & Soul closes the collection flitting between broken beats and nu disco showcasing the versatility of Feiertag’s drum chops as well as his production skills. It’s a head nodding tune that builds up to an ending of hypnotic layers of tuned percussion lines that leave you wanting more.

Captivating audiences outside of Colombia, Fresen represents a new wave of artists finding their voices heard across the globe.
Texturally rich, ‘Bonk’ strikes the ear with metallic sounds and expertly designed programming. Mature restraint is displayed whilst offering plenty of adventure. Skipping hi-hats and a downward-stepping bassline serve as the hallmark for this stellar track.
Imagining itself reverberating around the dance floor, ‘Walking Slow’ captures listeners in a pulsing trap of hypnotic techno. Choirs and pads find themselves intertwined with the rhythms acting as a perfect balance of drive and composure.
Greater emphasis is placed upon the sensitivities of the original whilst never losing grasp of power on the ‘Walking Slow (Mental Order & Tom Othy Remix)’. The song evolves into panning, rolling hi-hats and syncopated synthesisers adding alternative complexities.
All three tracks serve as an indication of the exciting future of Fresen. A mature voice from a young producer. Deep knowledge is displayed in what makes dance music powerful. The Bonk EP with its two original tracks and one remix provide plenty to get excited about.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Liam guest appears at events all around Australia. He has played at establishments all over Australia, including regular gigs at My Aeon and Brown Alley in addition to numerous festivals, such as Babylon Festival, Rabbits Eat Lettuce and Esoteric, to name a few. Liam has also opened and closed the night for popular artists such as Oliver Huntemann, Charlotte De Witte, Nick Warren, Nanoplex, Ben Coda and more, also appearing on The Soundgarden's online showcase in 2020.

Liam has spent several years in the studio creating his unique taste of electronic music. His distinctive style has resulted in him collaborating with a number of well-known artists such as Weird Sounding Dude, Silinder, Doppel, Analog Jungs and Ewan Rill. Signing releases on some of the best progressive labels worldwide, including progressive house titan Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden and Matan Caspi and Stan Kolev’s Revolt Music. His individual sound has made its way across the globe - being been played on D-Formation’s radio show by techno superstar Betoko, and forthcoming appearances on OneDotSixTwo and Lights Out.

These achievements have seen him start to tour internationally, once for his own solo headline tour in New Caledonia and again to play alongside high-calibre artists such as Nick Warren and Rossko. Liam has become a staple in Australia’s electronic music scene, turning heads and lighting up dancefloors nationwide with his unique and mature approach to performing and producing, whether it be DJing or playing a live set.

Fresh from the success of their debut three-track EP, GMJ Music & Matter now reprise their collaborative partnership with the rich and seductive tones of “Gauntlet”. Opening with a pounding beat and looped pad, a rippling arpeggiated motif wends its way across a smoothly filtered path. Evolving with trademark ease melodic variation adds subtle intrigue as white-noise washes shimmer off the sonic horizon. For more than the last decade, @ron-flatter has been enriching the house and techno landscape with his own direct and energetic productions and warm, groove-driven DJ sets. Now we are happy to welcome him to our Ritter Butzke Studio family with his tracks “Woodrow” and “Off Ramp”.

“Woodrow” pumps hard and pushes with a distorted and noisy hook. Squeaky but to be taken seriously the track finds his climax with a vocal supported main break and flute rising pads.

“Off Ramp” feels like a half pipe skate jump. A juddering 16th theme in bass, hihats and rythmics gives it a certain thrill. Contrasting light and moving pads contrapoint it with a joyfull feeling jumpin “off ramp”.

Watergate’s emphasis on the finest emerging talent continues, with the label debut of GLOWAL.

The Italian duo arrive on the imprint with a fine pedigree, having landed stirring releases on Innervisions, Afterlife, Sapiens and Diynamic all in the last 18 months. They similarly impressed during their maiden WG club gig last October on the Waterfloor.

The four-tracker ‚Night Queen’ masterfully manages to eschew a familiar club sound for something all-together uplifting, nostalgic and captivating, courtesy of their powerful arrangements and strong leads. The title track is driven by ‘80s synths and pop sensibilities, while owning enough low-end groove to propel a dancefloor (or home rave set-up). ‘Moment’ provides just that; a shining jewel of a track, dying to be played at that delicious end-of-night moment, as Simon Batten’s soaring vocal bring the collective masses to their proverbial knees. ‘Enigma’ is characterised by a robotic vocal that slides over sparse drums and a languid synth hook. ‘Antenna’ is a multi-faceted trip that combines synthwave melodies, pulsating electro chords and a slick rolling groove that keeps the track interesting from start to finish.
